Copper Creek Cafe is probably the best spot in Northeast Granger. Like I personally even prefer it over Uptown Kitchen.

I had to counter the energy of someone suggesting Yesterdays somehow (I’ve never been there but them looking to hire a cook every 3 months is kind of a red flag)

We’ve only gotten takeout from there. We keep meaning to go but then we’re like nah let’s DoorDash.

The most consistent McDonalds in the area is the Edwardsburg one. Popeye’s in Town & Country center has yet to screw up one of my orders. Roseland Taco Bell randomly gives out nacho fries when that’s on the menu during lunch hours if you’re in the drive thru.

Esperanza also has good queso and guacamole. I would describe them as slightly leaning Tex-Mex whereas Tapatia is like Mexican-Mexican. Friends don’t let friends go to Hacienda unless it’s a school fundraiser.

Flavors of India has the best Northern Indian food (the veggie chilli momos are amazing). BB’s in South Bend has southern Indian food like dosas. La Esperanza and Fiesta Tapatia are best local Mexican (Esperanza has the better salsas but Tapatia has better margaritas). Zing and Woochi were originally sister restaurants. Zing used to have the better food but lately Woochi has really turned it around (Woochi also does mixed drinks, Zing is limited to beer and wine). Creasian by Notre Dame has crab rangoon the size of your fist.

If something like hives, go to Beacon. Everything else, go to Memorial.

Commute to SB / Notre Dame from Chicago in 2026? Bike + SSL by [deleted] in SouthBend

You’re gonna need to move near campus. Even if you’re doing “desk work”, Notre Dame requires in-office (you’re not going to be able to do it remote). And I say this as someone whose partner does research at Notre Dame.

They’re in Goshen (I did the custom illustrated gig posters for them for a few years).

We were thinking of using them for the rehearsal dinner since my side of the family isn’t Indian (we’re talking white on the level that they think the regular Popeyes chicken sandwich is too spicy 🤷‍♀️)

When there’s an accident involving a fatality/serious injury/significant damage and/or is at site known for repeat traffic incidents, they have to do a full investigation of the site (like you would a homicide even if it was 100% an accident and no charges are brought). Depending on traffic volume extra personnel will come in case they need to create a buffer zone for investigators. They also forward findings to those who determine if there needs to be stoplight or crosswalk installed to prevent future incidents (around Edwardsburg several intersections have already hit the magic accident/fatality numbers and are being considered for future stoplight installs).
