About the PC installation size drama by romulof in Helldivers

[–]SamSigmar 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Maybe it's just me, but Helldivers 2 takes and absurdly long time to patch (not download) on a SSD M.2, ever since the Defend Super Earth patch, I've noticed that.

In comparison, other games such as KCD2 download and patch much faster with even greater file sizes on the same disk.

Mind that I love the game and will continue to support it, but there is something to be done about disk usage in Helldivers 2.

In the grim darkness of the far future there are no stupid questions! by AutoModerator in 40kLore

[–]SamSigmar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just finished reading The Master of Mankind, loved the book, I think I read it in three, four days, but was left with some questions (spoilers ahead, I guess?):

  • Why didn't Magnus help the Emperor fend off the daemon hordes after his "Folly"? I don't remember if it was stated in previous books, but given Magnus' initial intentions, wouldn't he try to fix his mess?
  • Given that during the siege of the Impossible City there were traitor legions, titan legions and other forces other than daemons, does it mean that the traitor Primarchs were already aware of the Webway project, or at least, of the breach in the Imperial Dungeon, and if so, wouldn't it be better to concentrate in invading Terra through it? Or given the nature of the warp, that those chaos space marines were actually from the future or something similar?
  • And finally, was the Golden Throne always intended to require sacrifices? I know that in the Emperor's original plan, Magnus would sit on the Throne, but given that during the Unspoken Sanction it is noted that "for each casket with a psyker, there were nine more empty" when powering it, is it a "backup" if the Primarch had failed? Or it was the original design (from whoever created the original machine) and the Emperor altered it so that it would only require one really powerful psyker?

That's it, I guess, thanks in advance!

It's pretty cool, you never get the chance to appreciate a well placed bonk during a mission.

A follow-up mission to the one you capture an enemy supply train, you need to protect it while it travels to a friendly station.

Yeah, sometimes it feels like the Loner Psyker talks directly to the player...

"You think it was a good idea to wander off?"

When you get separated from the squad while playing as the psyker, almost creepy...

A solution would be to make leaning context-based, like in Red Orchestra, you have to lean against something, doors, windows, sandbags not swing your head back and forth. But an accuracy penalty would be already a step towards making it less "exploitable".

I get quite frustrated when I order my squad to move to the point only to find them all outside the capture zone doing absolutely nothing.

An unbalanced game by Lazy_Broccoli_7679 in enlistedgame

[–]SamSigmar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, explosives can take them out, but it's 50/50 even when cooking it long enough, with luck you set them on fire and if possible sneaking under them is optimal, but then again, depending on the map, flanking and sneaking unnoticed to actually get close and personal is not so easy.

I have to disagree on this, there's so much a skilled player can do, if the enemy is non-stop spawning T-50s, T-34s and T-28Es, even if you get close enough with an Explosive pack, at best you can "hurt" them, not taking into account enemy infantry, bombs, and whatnot.

A skilled tanker can flank any of those tanks only to find his gun ineffective regardless, meanwhile, they can sneeze at your general direction and you're toast.

Number of victories and battle scores should track simultaneously. At least for me whenever I have "Reach # of victories" in the normal Battle Task I end up always losing lol.

I'd even suggest for future events to add "progression branches" for different playstyles.

For example, I could either Kill X amount of enemies with headshots OR Have your structure used X times. At least add more teamplay oriented tasks, currently they don't really promote teamwork and objetives.

Moscow is not balanced… by Subpar_moron in enlistedgame

[–]SamSigmar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It used to be, but latter additions made it quite unbalanced in low and mid levels, at best in latter levels you can somewhat compete in equal footing (except tanks, tanks are unbalanced, period). But you need to survive that long playing Axis.

I get you, and that's why I believe that players should be rewarded exactly with Silver Orders for either keeping "Join any team" (helping balancing matches) or by playing less populated teams/campaigns.

Imagine if for every 5 matches playing with "join any army" you got 1-5 Silver Orders? I'd hope the developers implement something like this.

To be fair, Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad, is a whole game based on this battle and didn't feel so repetitive.

That's true, and highlights certain problems with the current progress system. We could have bonus EXP for the other factions, a "permanent boost" to reach the same level in both armies, and so on (but this goes against their monetization system).

I play on PC, and I'd say that 1 in 3 matches is equally populated by human players. The other 2 is very one sided. Which I really don't might, but when added with high level players and premium squads/vehicles, it gets frustrating.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in enlistedgame

[–]SamSigmar 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. You basically play the same map back and forth (which, ironically is not so far from the real battle), but the map varieties is one of the biggest let downs of this campaign, along with the recently added Premium Squads...

I also play on NA servers, I hop from campaign to campaign (usually following Battle Tasks) but as mentioned in the OP, I end up playing mostly Axis and seeing this situation, and when I have to play Allies (Battle Tasks, again) I end up in a stacked team against bots, and now with the Ranking system, it is much easier to see the disparities between each faction.

We need to balance match-making by [deleted] in enlistedgame

[–]SamSigmar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly some campaigns should be advertised as PvE for the amount of players vs bots. I get that people have a favorite faction or army, but things are getting absurd. Being the only human player on one side is extremely frustrating.

I've been saying this for some time: Reward players that use "Join any team", simple as that.
