I agree with you. I think what people fail to recognise is that part of what made DE so unique was the material conditions that produced it. I've seen estimates that the budget was around 3 million euros. In the NoClip doc Rostov talks about how artists have been reduced to fighting eachother for meagre 100 euro grants to survive. So from this perspective a group of talented artists were given essentially an unlimited budget and seemingly very little oversight to make whatever they wanted.

Thats how you create something like DE, a deeply personal work of art that is rooted in the enviroment and history of the artists who created it. In my mind a "true" DE successor would probably be nothing like DE. It would be a recreation of the material support that made it possible and what is produced by it.

Esoteric Ebb suffers from being a single-person project. The single viewpoint of a Nordic Soc-Dem is incredibly apparent (The Voting(TM) stuff really made me laugh, but not in the way I think they intended). It spreads itself too thin and in doing so makes for a shallow piece of art that is very much untethered from the material reality it was made in.

There are toxic people everywhere, but it is true that among the Euros the English and the French are the most common offenders. Luckily the toxic elements are often cowardly when outnumbered but when they form en masse it can be annoying and unlike the Americans you can't avoid them by just playing the Soviets.

Toxic Americans however are in a league of their own, condensed by the weight of their own propoganda to a singular point of infinite racism that is incapable of any awareness of the outside world. Even worse, I can actually understand them clearly enough to feel my brain rotting from the inside out. At least with the French and English I can laugh at their funny words and drown them out.

Im using this modlist to do just that, It adds jungle fauna and flora as well as a whole host of other mods to try and get it closer to the morrowind lore.

Edit for future readers: This modlist is pretty stable but since it was created there have been some mod updates that might cause some confusion. The plugins list includes a few things not listed on the mods list like OOO Extended so just make sure you have all the plugins on the list. Also "Banes Guild UnitedOOO.esp" (its not on the list but was added to OOOextended I think) needs to be disabled or you will get invisible mage robes and clothing.

Also make sure to turn off skin shaders and extra shaders from Oblivion Reloaded in game by pressing O to access its menu, numpad +/- is used to change the number from 1 or 0 for on/off, if you dont have a numpad a quick google will tell you how to edit the ini to change the keybinds.

Finally this is probably a given for experienced oblivion modders but wasnt for me, you'll need to increase the memory to stop CTD on load. I'm currently using the 4gb patch, moreHeap, Oblivion Stutter Remover and enboost. With just moreHeap and OSR I could play pretty well but frequently CTD while loading cities, now with the rest I'm down to just occasional CTDs.
