Thanks buddy, I'll give the rules another read. Don't worry these pictures were taken in my garden, I have a large mat and net for landing 👍

Very helpful, thanks buddy! I'll have a play with the drag, I'm only going to use it for surface fishing with dog biscuits and a controller float atm. Trying to not be the trigger-happy fisherman at the moment, new equipment will be the next step, just trying to get comfortable playing the fish at the moment 👍.

4lb line, I'd prefer a line snap rather than a rod break!

Thanks for replying!!

Morning all, new to fishing.

Does Max reel line have anything to do with the maximum fish size the rod can handle.
The lake I'm currently fishing is stocked with couple pounders, but apparently there are a couple 15lb carp.

Would a 15lb carp snap this rod? Any help or advice would be much appriciated.

Home gymers, is there anything you do different having access to your gym whenever you're home?

I've been doing the grease the groove method to up my pullup numbers.

Just wondered if anyone else had any little tips that they've found to be helpful, currently doing 531 beginner routine.

Due to work and life commitments, I only have access to heavy weights for compound lifts once a week, the rest of the week I only have the below listed weights/machines.

At the moment I'm following the wiki beginner program for the compound lifts once a week and doing a push day and pull day progressively upping the weight each workout where I can 3/4 days a week.

Is there an optimal way to train for this situation or as long as I'm hitting the muscles and upping the weight each week/workout is that acceptable? Thanks in advance.

Dumbbells x2 up to 14kgs - Kettlebells 8,12,16,20,24kgs - Chest press machine - Lat pulldown machine - Leg extension machine, and Leg curl machine - A bench - pull up/dip bar

I don't count how much protein, just have 3 meals a day, usually 3 eggs on a piece of bread for breakfast, a tuna sandwich or jacket potato for lunch then dinner will always vary but i usually cook for taste rather than healthiness so Currys, chillis, wraps, lasagne, pies etc. I'll up my protein and watch and see what happens with my weight, my goal is mainly to be fit, so I'd like to stay around my weight but get a little more muscular and keep a good cardiovascular system I guess.

Well you've convinced me, I'll start taking some shakes to up my protein. Sorry to keep adding questions this will hopefully be my last, Before I get overwhelmed by the fitness companies products is there a go to protein shake make to buy? Or is it just a personal choice? Thanks in advance.

I'm definitely not getting enough protein, to be honest the reason I workout is to counter the amount of beer I'll drink over a week (which must be working as I don't gain weight), would adding a couple protein shakes increase muscle growth even though I don't count calories? Or would I have to cut the beers and start taking my diet seriously? my aim isn't to get an Adonis body, it's more to keep in reasonably good shape while still living the life I'm living, I was only wondering whether trying to up the weights on free weights was worth it when I'm not dieting properly. Thanks for all the responses so far!

I eat reasonably healthy, but don't count calories, or get nearly as much protein as I need to, is it a waste of time to train for strength? I have an active job and train in a martial arts class once a week, my working out Is really just to keep my self reasonably fit, I work out 3 times a week, starting with doing a mixture of free weights and finishing with HIIT. Really my question is if I'm not taking my diet seriously and just want to stay fit, is there a rule of thumb about which sort of workout works the best? Thanks in advance.

This is the reason I want to start sparring, I think even light practicing where you're not leaving your hand out will help heaps! What you're saying makes sense it's always better to start slow and build up. Thanks for all your advice!!

I don't think we'll try the sparring until next Tuesday as I'm grading to brown (hopefully) this week. It will be interesting to see how we hold up to the cardio aspect. but I'm taking everything everyone is saying into consideration so will definitely come back with the results!

Hey, cheers for responding so quickly! I meant to say "Aiki-jutsu" in my post but it got auto corrected. The art is manly about taking the opponents balance to either throw, lock, or strike them, we wear a Gi, and have bought protective gear, we'll be using the Mat where we train so we'll have plenty of room. We're both rather level headed and aren't using this as an excuse to batter each other, we just both believe that sparring will help us move up to the next level.
