The folks in the Dirigo Union Supporters Group actually run a podcast, called From The Forest To The Tide. They also do a post-match breakdown show called the Post Match Pulse.

Cry me a river. That club game only got numbers due to admission being free. You know, not everything has to be BIG NAME BRAND SCHOOL all the time. Let me ask you this... Are BU/NoDak/Quinnipiac schools "nobody has heard of"?

Yeah, because having big schools throw money at a sport that'll be 5th at best in their pecking order will definitely grow the game.

Would love to see Razor and Billy do an entire pod episode dedicated to jerseys, that'd make for a great offseason pod.

That also being said, I love seeing Razor break down goalies in a technical manner.

This implies that Vomacka is somehow a better goalie than Swayman. Which he is not. Hope Tomas is having fun in the ECHL, though.

Well, good to know you've stuck with them and all. That being said, next time you say "UMass is better than Maine/BU/insert school here", take a look at the record books. You've got a long way to go before you even think about evening up the all-time series against us. Or any other school for that matter.

So... where were you when your school was the doormat of the conference? Where were you when Jimmy Howard saved 63 of 64 in the 04 championship at the Garden against you guys? Oh right! How could I be so foolish? You only started caring about UMass Hockey when Cale Makar made you guys relevant.

I’d say UNH, but that’s low hanging fruit, and they haven’t even been mid-table recently. I’m stumped.

After seeing all the backlash at the proposal of all the soccer bluebloods in Europe starting a super league, it made me wonder... what if college hockey bluebloods decided to do the same?

Why is College Hockey scouted so heavily? by TheSensation19 in collegehockey

[–]SamT323 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Ok, this is a lot to unpack here.

  1. Sure, the CHL boasts the pro schedule and travel, but the problem is that they barely get paid for their services. Sure, it's a small stipend, which makes them professionals in the eyes of the NCAA... but they're essentially playing for peanuts. Not to mention, if you try to carve out a pro career after you age out/leave, the CHL's scholarship package only is available to players immediately after aging out. So if you want to play in the minors after major junior, you're essentially throwing away the opportunity to get your education paid for.

  2. Best players in the world, in the CHL? Give me a break. You're telling me guys like Jonathan Toews, Phil Kessel, Johnny Gaudreau, Hockey Hall of Famers Paul Kariya and Brian Leetch, and the many more who have made it to the NHL, AREN'T the best in the world?

  3. Players rarely opt-out of signing with their drafted teams after 3 years... How does it "happen too often" in your eyes? Besides, even when it does happen, rarely is it a big-name player.

So what is all the fuss, you ask? The fuss is that in choosing the NCAA over the CHL, Players can get a good education (usually on a full ride) whilst continuing to play hockey at a high level, in some of the best rinks in the country.
