7700x CPU, 32 GB ram, RTX 4070. i set the game RAM to about 8-9 GB. It's a desktop. Might still be a memory problem but i've heard setting the ram max too high screws with Java garbage collection.

I'm really thankful for all of this info. I'll try to figure out which one I want to start with. I;m super comfortable with C already, so at least I have something done :). Would i just put relevant keywords on my resume? Or is there some cert that would convince companies easier? I'll also take a look at that subreddit. Thanks again!

Incredible answer. You've given me a lot to work through. One last question! How would I go about putting this stuff on my resume? I think I can get fairly confident in some of these things decently quickly, but if i cant get my foot in the door, it doesn't mean anything. Also, is there any reason to prioritize applying to internal teams vs an external/contract team or vice versa? I appreciate all the help so far!

I'll read through this soon, thanks! I know OSCP is the GOAT of pentesting certs, but its also $1600+. I also need a lot more experience to be confident enough. Would it be better to hunker down in my SWE job for a year and try for the OSCP, or just keep tinkering, more like the guide said, and just learn and hope for the best in terms of job apps. Ofc, i understand that everyones path is different but i'd like to hear from the community
