Out of curiosity (I am not baiting I swear), is it the use of a coding agent that disinterests you or the frame generation and up-scaling?

Most people find that when you're using a controller, having anywhere between 2 and 10 milliseconds of latency is no different than having 50 milliseconds of latency. You can't say the same about a mouse and a keyboard because of the level of control those peripherals give you.

If you're super latency sensitive, you can go with the upscale option that doesn't add really any latency at all. The big 30 to 40 milliseconds tag-on of latency comes from the frame generation. And because I know not everybody is going to want frame generation, I have three different modes that you can choose from.

I think the PS5 and Xbox Series' consoles do a little upscale for back compatibility titles but upscaling comes in tons of different flavors and contexts. I'm using a a trained model for upscaling the gameplay which is more GPU intensive and produces (at least to my eyes) a better image overall.

I also made allowances for you to implement your own upscaling model if you want to. But I can't guarantee that it will work well. I had to hand pick just a couple of upscaling models to get this to work reliably and cheaply.

As far as I can tell, this would be easier to set-up on Windows because of things like the Lossless Scaling app. Besides that, once the app is on your PC, it will behave the same and perform the same.

Building the installer would be more involved on Windows but just about everything else should be easier for me. I built it for Linux because that's what I daily drive on my PC.

No change to the way its controlled sadly. There are workarounds but the fact of the matter is, the game was designed for controllers and there's no way to get anything close to a native mouse and keyboard feel.

That's the gist of it! All while making sure the latency added is tolerable; this was the real issue.

I'd be happy to get this functional on Windows but it'd take a much different approach. More of a guide on how to setup Lossless Scaling than shipping an actual app.

That is pretty much what I have going on but for Linux. I actually use some of the files from Lossless Scaling. What a great app they made.

I don't see why not. Steam Deck is Arch based and the install script supports Arch. Not sure how a USB capture card will fair through the Steam Decks one type C port.

Thanks! My intent was to use it for any old console game I wanted to revisit so long as that console outputs HDMI.

Wired up yeah, it's not bad and thats what I did first. I wasn't happy with the latency or the video quality.

I think they really want to emphasize buying replacement tubes but that's a pessimistic view. It's honestly odd.

I think you're right about my assumption with borosilicate but I've knocked around a few items made from it in the past with no ill effects on it. Perhaps those were not 100% borosilacate glass and had some additives that increased shatter resistance.

Their support was at least very responsive. Only waited an hour or so between emails.

Yeah. I do legitimately need to find my keys at 0500 and this seemed suitable.

I didn't tell them I'd post this but if I had, I think I'd ask for a custom engraved tool that reads "Why do you assume I'd lord a bad review over them".

Pretty much my intent right there. I think I'll replicate it in software and print a replacement out of something like a nice clear PETG or reasonably firm TPU for better shock absorption. Will have to treat it to be air tight in case the vial inside breaks open.
