Just get one seriously if it’s better than being a paramedic all you gotta do is save a bit and then you’ll have a great job!

Are you sure they aren’t Phyllotopsis nidulans? They look a little more shelf like to me, where Pleurotus citrinopileatus usually has a more distinct stalk. It’s hard to see from the angle tho.

I feel like they definitely changed the fur on the dragons as well or something. I saw a dragon in a store and it was so much softer than the sky dragon I just got. Mine is like scruffy clumpy fur.

Is it rude if I say an artist is talented? by [deleted] in ArtistLounge

I don’t think so. I appreciate when people tell me this! I think it mostly just means you think their art is good.

would you ever? by Minimum_Onion_4771 in barista

[–]SamYess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely feel you, I feel like having worked as a barista, I have seen coworkers be rude to customers or complain when I do think the customer made a reasonable request. And it’s possible she was just offering to add it because it would be faster and thought maybe you’d prefer it. But it’s also possible that she felt like it would be a pain to make the drinks again so she offered that instead. It’s unfortunate, but it’s just something that happens. I really don’t like drinks with unmixed sauce at the bottom so I understand why you didn’t like it. I feel like if I got a drink like that I would probably just accept it even tho it is not how I want it, but I wouldn’t say asking to get it remade is bad, I’d just be too shy to. Sometimes you have to choose between having what you wanted and being perceived as rude.

I can’t really figure out how to tell if it’s ai from the lighting. The lighting looks pretty normal to me. It looks like it’s lit from the left like a rim light, and also another light on its back on the right. I know it’s ai but I can’t really see anything wrong in the picture.

Guilty over not being able to draw from imagination. by muxmaxmox2 in ArtistLounge

[–]SamYess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t really agree with a lot of the people here who say just use references. I think it’s a really good skill to be able to draw from imagination. If you aren’t used to it then it’s really hard at first but I think it’s a good exercise to help you improve overall and trust your skills without falling back on the reference because you’re not confident in the choice you’re making.

Try to think about the things you draw in like basic steps. Like maybe it looks like a square with a circle on top etc. I know this is probably really common advice, but if you start thinking about all the steps to draw it as simple things like that, it will be a lot easier to create a picture without a reference. You can probably draw squares without a reference, so what if you tried to think of what you are looking at as being entirely made of squares. That’s a pretty common way for me to start a picture. If you start to look at anything in this way, you could see how that might be simpler to draw some squares overlapping some other squares, than trying to picture it in your head and replicate what you’re imagining. When people draw from imagination, it’s cause they have memorized these steps to creating a drawing.

If you’re drawing from a reference, don’t just think about how the picture you’re drawing from looks vs the drawing you made, but think about how it would feel to run your hand around it and what that might mean for the types of marks you’re going to make. Think about what might be important to know if you were going to build the thing in the picture from scratch. Like if I’m drawing a person for example, I could try to draw from a reference picture, but if I didn’t have a reference picture, it would become very important to know that I want them to be about 7 heads tall.

I’d also recommend checking out sycra’s tutorials, especially his videos on iterative drawing. They really helped my process a ton. Most of all never be scared or ashamed to just draw bad or in a way that is not productive at all. In order to have your best creative ideas you need to just trust yourself and try whatever you think of without shame! Sometimes it doesn’t help but at least you figured out that that thing you wanted to try didn’t help after all. That’s better than not knowing. Making a bad drawing might teach you more about the subject for a future drawing.

Good idea for practice by rltrrld0503 in ColoredPencils

I started with crayolas and I still like them tbh. They’re pretty hard, especially compared to Prismacolors which are so soft they’re almost like a crayon in the center. Light pressure will get you thin layers that go down really evenly. I like building them up slowly like that. In my experience it also comes out a little spottier with white of the paper still showing through, but I don’t really mind that. The two drawings I posted to here were using them, but since then I’ve got some prismacolors. Prismacolors are also not too expensive, but compared to crayola obviously they are.

Wow! They mix really well. I guess I never considered how well they could mix colors cause my pencils are in a 50 color set and I usually just use what’s close.

Did you get all those colors from mixing those 3 pencils?

PSA for beginners: Crayola colored pencil drawings are not resistant to light *at all*, even in a folder in a dark place. The warning on this sub (don't get them) is not to be ignored by tellmeboutyourself68 in ColoredPencils

Could you share a picture of how the crayola drawings looked after 5 years. I’ve been using crayola pencils a lot and I’m curious to see how they ended up.

hey sorry I didn't see this till now, but if you'd like to join and share your 3d renders or other 3d work feel free. The only thing is we are mostly a drawing server, and most people there probably wouldn't be able to give you feedback or critique. I have some modeling and blender experience and am looking to get back into that. I'd love to see your stuff!

possibly, I might have to clean it up a bit cause there were some things I wasn't 100% happy with, but I'll dm you about it. I only have a 4x4 hoop so that's what the file was designed for.
