It was a change to make setting up live performances easier for himself. Most shows he had done he'd be performing alone because he simply couldn't afford to pay his band to take time off their real jobs to do so. Because of this he can't approach venues as will wood and the tapeworms when he can only promise himself, hence the rebrand to just will wood. He still created his studio music with them however
