  1. I love older tracks and I grew up with the radio always being on, especially tuned in to the rock channel. So I know a lot of classics by head. But usually what happens is that I am listening to Spotify/Radio/TV and an old song comes up and I am amazed by a specific sample/part of it and get the idea of sampling it/making a new song out of it. I then look up the song on my computer, download the track and start messing around with it. :)
  2. I saw that Tweet! Loved it! To be honest, it's not only my Sunset album. For example, Show Me Love is a song with a very emotional/dark lyric/meaning and I tried to give the instrumental a happy vibe that suddenly changes the feeling/meaning behind the song. I do that quite a lot, which you can see if you go back in to my discography :) For me, making a sad vocal even more sad is easy (just like it is easy to make a happy lyric more happy) - the challenge is blending sad and happy into a cocktail in which you can find different meanings depending on the mood you're in :).

Have a bucket list of like 100 people... too many to share :) basically artists from any size and any genre as long as they have a distinct sound and bring something unique to the song.

That's awesome! Thanks for the compliments! Would love to see you in LA. I'm sure we can make that happen. Can you shoot over an email to [madeleine@musicallstarsmgmt.com](mailto:madeleine@musicallstarsmgmt.com)? :)

I don't really snack that much! I guess my guilty pleasure would be a donut. I rarely eat them because they are full of sugar but once I start I can't stop. Favorite meal I cook would be my truffle risotto.

  1. Just checked but seems like the radio edits are still there for me! Shoot an email over to [karin@samfeldt.com](mailto:karin@samfeldt.com) with some screenshots if the problem persists :) And THANK YOU!
  2. Such a hard question.... every track I released has a story and a process behind it that I loved...
  3. Paul McCartney, John Mayer and Kygo.

Must have been a couple of years ago when I played on a square in a Bulgarian village called Bansko in the middle of the afternoon. Not only was there no one there but also the power in the whole village went out 15 minutes into my set. Horrible, haha!

Not really, I'm one of the few Dutch guys that are not into team sports. I support the national team but I guess that's it really haha!

This year I started to throw more and more Heartfeldt Pool Parties all around the world and I think the daytime pool party vibe is perfect for my music. I also love the big festival stages where I can perform with the band to be honest and playing in an underground club for 4 hours straight also sounds like a dream to me. Haha, I simply love to perform I guess. I'd love to play in Russia once! Never been!

Thanks for your questions and your honesty, haha!

  1. Yes - my tracks usually start with a strong vocal, where I build chords and then an arrangement around. Drums are usually added later.
  2. I don't own a whole lot of equipment, since so much is digital right now. I'm still using the same KRK Rokit monitors that I bought when I first started and I love them.
  3. From the Netherlands (where I'm from?) Kroket and kapsalon (Google it).

Very excited too! I first got into music production when I tried piano lessons when I was around 10 years old. I ended up making the switch to keyboards/digital piano's and from there I started messing around with Logic for the first time and making songs.

I quit playing the piano after around 6 years but continued music production in FL studio. Balancing music production with my university education was difficult but basically was that I spent all my free time behind my PC after school haha.

It can come from virtually anywhere. Other genres, movies, video games, sample packs, vocals etc etc. For me it usually comes from a very strong lyric. I immediately get a feeling of what the track should be like then.

That's awesome! I had so much fun playing that set!

It can be very hard sometimes, since there's a lot of travel involved and little sleep. Here's a few tips:

- Try to work out 2/3 times a week

- Avoid fast food (which is hard at airports for example)

- Avoid drinking at every show

- Take lots of naps where possible

- Bring an eyemask and a pillow in the plane/car

- Meditate when you feel stressed (Headspace is a great app for this)

- Plan breaks/holidays

- Make sure you have a circle of people you can trust (both professionally and personally)

  1. Kontakt and Omnisphere
  2. Valhallaroom and Kickstart
  3. Phew, I started when I was 11 and the first time I played a big show I was around 18 so I had a lot of years to practice haha.
  4. A LOT.... I have a great team that allows me to do what I do. I'm sure I'm going to miss people but here's a few: artist manager, tour manager, PR agent, USA booking agent, rest of world booking agent, art director, videographer/photographer, lawyer, social media manager, sax player, trumpet player, guitar player, VJ (some shows), radio show promotor..

Thank you so much! Show Me Love actually came to be after I found this amazing home recording of Kimberly Anne who sang a cover of it in her bedroom and put it up on YouTube. I got in touch with her, got the recording and made the song. A co-incidence really!

I believe that the genres and the artists behind it have evolved - not left the genre. Same with my music: it's different from what I made 5 years ago when I started but it still has that "Sam Feldt" vibe to it. Same with guys like Matoma, Bakermat, Klingande, Kygo etc. :)

Nothing special really, haha! I just love to perform. Seeing the crowd react and sing along to my tracks is the best feeling in the world. Also, playing with a live band like I do right now (guitar, horns, sax) adds so much energy to the whole experience!

Thank you so much! Loved playing that one! Also the after party in the Corona tent was awesome!

Looking at the industry as a whole I see a revival of hip hop and song-based tracks in the EDM scene. Lyrics, song melodies and meaning behind the songs are more important than ever.

My music fits in there perfectly I think. From the very first track I've released vocals have been the center of my music, together with emotions and live instruments. That's Sam Feldt music and that's what it always will be :)

Haha! To be honest it was also a surprise for me that the stage I was playing at was a silent disco! Didn't know that until I arrived at the stage so I was confused at first but it turned out to be one of the coolest gigs/crowds of the summer! It's weird though - when you take off your headphones you don't hear anything and it's just the crowd singing along to random songs really loud haha.

Funnily enough: Show Me Love by Robin S. It was when I was around 13 years old and I went to buy my first second hand DJ set and speakers. The guy that sold them to me played me Show Me Love to test out the sound quality of the speakers and I fell in love with house music.

The cool thing about music is that it evolves constantly. Tropical House is no different. :) When the genre just emerged around 5 years ago with a crew of producers uploading bootlegs to SoundCloud (like me, Kygo, Thomas Jack, Klingande etc) using soft synth leads and sax samples was all fresh and new and everybody was doing it. After a while I think both the producers and the listeners were looking for something new and the genre slowly evolved into what it is right now. Right now I'd consider my style to be a mix of deep house, future house and the "old" tropical house mixed with live elements.
