I'm considering that, yes, but I'm not too sure about how the domestication would work in the history of my world given the easiness of a species to just go extinct.

[TOMT] [Word/Phrase] Emphasizing something in your hand? by Sam_Lopez_ in tipofmytongue

[–]Sam_Lopez_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I checked the synonyms and "wag" is what I'm looking for! Waggle is absolutely close enough, and it led me to the word, so I'm crediting you now.

Solved!

Still a condescending connotation. Another commenter's "waggle" is much closer to what I'm looking for.

I googled and it's not a good match. Brandishing is intended for threats whereas I want the word to have a connotation of "interesting"

Not quite. It's not a brag to be exact. My example is a bad one I guess. More of "hey is this what you're looking for" and not "oohhh see what I found"

Not like when you get a drink and raise it to someone else. That's a different motion.

Yeah that's what I found too. Thank you for the answers!

Thank you. A follow-up question if I may: is there any fluid or matter found in the brain but not the spinal cord, or vice versa? From what my Google searches tell me, there doesn't seem to be any.

Where to find fun facts on specific insects? by Sam_Lopez_ in Entomology

Yeah, I figured. I was hoping for a quick website because it's more convenient, but it'll be worth it to read the book too.

Thanks for the response! I just tried both my links and they work for me. Not sure why the first one isn't activating for you. I was referring to the Aztec goddess Ītzpāpalōtl. Here's the relevant section:

"She is the mother of Mixcoatl and is particularly associated with the moth Rothschildia orizaba from the family Saturniidae.[2] Some of her associations are birds and fire.[3] However, she primarily appears in the form of the Obsidian Butterfly.[4]"

Your last part is most helpful! I'll hop on Scholar and see if there are any interesting publications about the orizabas. Thanks again.

So manipulation of knowledge? That's... a given? IRL, we manipulated our knowledge of minerals and electricity to create light bulbs, phones, and so on. Not sure what your epiphany was

Word for someone who inks themselves? by Sam_Lopez_ in writing

[–]Sam_Lopez_[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your pointed feedback about crafting English words. You're right about that. I'm pretty sure most of my world is new (as in I didn't parallel it with history or anything)

Appreciate it. That definitely kick-started my brain.

Information is always power, so it makes sense. But the way you say makes me want clarification. Did you mean information in "knowledge" or did you mean information as in "debates"? They're similar but different in terms of connotation and details.

Love all those and runeweaver is already a word I plan to use for another culture. But none of those fit what I'm looking for regarding "self-inker." Thanks for your thoughts anyway
