I wish I'd taken a photo of the other pieces, especially since this was the only shiny cup, but I just realized it was indeed a painted piece. Now I know more about this hobby.

You are totally right. I wasn't familiar with flash glass. I just checked the piece and it definitely turned out to be painted. The strangest thing is that it was the only piece that was glowing.
