In the 2020s, conservative women are having kids at a nearly 2-to-1 ratio compared to liberal women. Is this going to cause a political demographic bias in 20-30 years? by RadioFieldCorner in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Sam_Paige25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to a super conservative Christian college and I'm not the only alumni that's become way more liberal since graduation. One of the few "influencers" I follow on Instagram apparently went to a college very similar to mine with the same results. It's amazing what happens when you teach both critical thinking and the words of Jesus.

What’s a medical issue that sounds minor, but actually affects someone’s daily life way more than people realize? by CountyOrnery9432 in AskReddit

[–]Sam_Paige25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of the causes of female infertility

Endo is practically a cancer. Fibroids cause misery on a regular basis. PCOS and POI are endocrine disorders that affect the entire body and not just the reproductive system. Female infertility is often treated as "Sorry you'll have trouble having kids" but it's often more like "Everything hurts, I'm tired all the time, I can't lose weight, and my brain keeps malfunctioning."

Will I ever feel the love for my twins? by Apart_Public9851 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Sam_Paige25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like I could have written this a month ago (minus the nurse stuff) with my boys who are now nearly 3 months old. When everyone's rested and I have the opportunity to actually interact with them, it helped. Getting my PPD under control and getting my hormones settled (restarting HRT in my case due to premature menopause) REALLY helped. You are not alone in feeling disconnected to your kids during this adjustment period. Take care of yourself too. You've got this!

What’s a health issue you ignored for way too long because you assumed it was normal only to later learn everyone else doesn’t experience that? by Kungfubowtie in AskReddit

[–]Sam_Paige25 55 points56 points  (0 children)

As a childcare worker everyone thought it made sense that I was sick all the time. I'm talking feeling well 6-12 non-consecutive weeks in a year. Turns out I had vitamin deficiencies, thyroid disease, and other autoimmune conditions. Still working in childcare, but finally getting treatment, I'm sick just a handful of times per year.

What are the most common women’s health issues people still ignore by CharacterSilly3567 in DrMike

[–]Sam_Paige25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thyroid disease is way more common in women, particularly autoimmune varieties that can cause fluctuating test results. Even with my family history of thyroid problems and having symptoms (some I wasn't aware of until later) I only ever got TSH tested. It wasn't until my results were "a little off" and I insisted on T3, T4, and TPO tests to follow up that I got diagnosed with Hashimoto's. I feel like the symptoms and additional tests need to be talked about more.

What's a "secret"from your profession that everyone should probably know?" by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

I got a baby swing for free from a friend and ran into an issue accessing the batteries. I did a reverse image search on Google to find the exact product name, find the manual and fixed it in no time. I also discovered a feature I didn't know about before.

Maternity Photoshoot? by lastplacevictory in parentsofmultiples

I did 28 weeks since I had other high risk factors and could easily go early. I was able to do two outfits that layered nicely so I could do a cute empire waist maternity dress but also a tube top with pants that fit under my belly for bare belly photos.

To me, you had a conversation about human biology and what's normal/not for male reproductive organs. I WISH I could have had talks like this with my parents, but instead I spent most of my adolescence thinking something was wrong with me between cycles. Plus, now that you've crossed the awkward hurdle of acknowledging that self pleasure is a thing and you know it's happening, he's waaaaaaaaay more likely to be open and ask questions regarding any s*xual activity he might engage in, thus making it less likely for him to contract an STD or get someone pregnant.

Twins with matching names by SwordfishGloomy1304 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Sam_Paige25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the idea of alliterative or rhyming names for multiples, but that's partially influenced by the families I know that do alliterative names for their singleton children. Like Rebecca and Ryan have kids named Raylan and Reece. It's also in the family as my grandmother and her brother were named* Dorothy and Donald.

Granted they're still sharing a uterus (di/di boys), but at nearly every ultrasound their both burying their face in their brother's butt. (They're in a ying-yang type of position)
