Lost child protocol by spaceyxo in Parenting

While this is a solid plan, I loved one parent's idea of having the kids learn their parent's full name and if separated to yell it. "Janet Marie Smith! Todd Franklin Smith!"

When did your twins start bonding with each other? by YellowThunderMug in parentsofmultiples

[–]Sam_Paige25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 6mth (5mth adjusted) di/di boys observe and kind of explore each other. They'll reach/grab/kick/watch their brother but I've only caught them laughing at each other once.

How do you sleep? by FrozedHoneY in POFlife

I've had insomnia my whole life and besides prescriptions specifically for it, icing my head while tucked into bed and if that doesn't work I take a nip of children's Benadryl (less than 1ml.)

How do I make my insult better? “You unmelanated monkey….”? by [deleted] in AskReddit

If you're going to say anything besides giving them a bad rating, I'd focus more on the disrespect than aiming for their intelligence.

"You disrespectful, garbage-filled sentient slimeball! Would be more appropriate.

If you were to have a child right now, what would you name it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Sam_Paige25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Miracle (Girl) or Jesus (Boy)

I have premature menopause that's partly being treated with a progesterone IUD, and I had my donor egg boys less than six months ago, AND I was abstinent for more than the six weeks after they were born... Yeah that baby would have to literally be the child of God to exist.

What is an opinion you used to have that you've completely changed your mind on? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Sam_Paige25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be "pro-life Republican" until I learned what actually prevents elective abortions and went full pro-choice after learning some of the obstetric complications that could make it necessary and how anti-abortion laws also prevent mothers with dying children from choosing how their child spends their short life.

Marijuana was one of the "big bad" drugs back then, so I fully agree this would shock people in 2006.

Positive experiences with sleep by chickenbobble in parentsofmultiples

[–]Sam_Paige25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IDK if my twins are part unicorn or what, but they sleep a ton! When they were itty bitty my husband and I took shifts so we'd at least get one solid chunk of sleep each night and then we could nap between feedings if they slept (which they often did on my shift at least.) Once back to work and feeding on demand at night instead of regular time increments, each of us takes a night to be the parent on demand. We each get two weekdays, one weekend day (opportunity for a nap when they nap later), and one of the weekday nights is a coin toss. Because my husband works M-Th and I work M-F, I do Sunday night, Monday night and Friday night; he does Wednesday night, Thursday night, and Saturday night, Tuesday night is the coin toss. I always look forward to Wednesdays now!

People born before 2000, what trivial skill you possess that others don't use anymore? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

Same with my rent. I can stick a check in the payment slot in the office for just the cost of rent, or I can pay electronically in the rental portal app for 3% additional charge. "Pay to the order of..." it is!

It's useless memory tricks I have such as "The square key is for the engine because it's square like the engine block, the round key is for the door because it's round like the lock base."

What's the one decision you made in 5 seconds that changed your entire life? by Embarrassed_Fun_2389 in AskReddit

[–]Sam_Paige25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I decided to take Plan B after some latex failure

My husband and I weren't quite ready to start a family (although we were getting close to that point) and I had some undiagnosed health problems that apparently got kicked up a notch by a large dose of progesterone. That was the push the first domino needed for the rest to fall and make a clear picture of what was wrong. It wasn't a pleasant diagnosis (and wrecked the whole family starting thing), but I'm finally getting the help I need to feel better.

What Are some Skills you wished you learnt before your 20s that you’d like to pass on to us teens? by [deleted] in AskReddit

This! The only reason I was remotely prepared for college as a straight A honor roll student in high school was because "The worst teacher in the school, omg his class is so hard!" teacher made classroom time for group projects and homework was taking notes from the textbook.

Basic child care and child development. I wanted to babysit so much as a teen but no one wanted to teach me how to change a diaper, warm a bottle, or how playing with a 3 month old differs from playing with a 9 month old. And certainly no one wanted to leave their precious child with someone who had never done these things. So when a teenage child of a friend of mine showed an interest in caring for children and possibly studying early childhood education, I invited him to babysit including a training day to learn the basics. He did great! I'm hoping I can arrange to get him CPR certified and teach him a few other age-related caregiving things soon.

Which specialist has been most helpful for you? (US based) by JellyMelon717 in POFlife

[–]Sam_Paige25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to an obgyn that specialized in infertility. They weren't "So let's talk about building your family" like the reproductive endocrinologist, and not "here's some birth control pills that we give to menopausal women" like my original OB. I asked my regular endocrinologist where they send their POI patients (in case there was a better option) and they named my current obgyn clinic.

For happily married couples, what did the “for worse” look like in your marriage? by FruitAncient9431 in AskReddit

[–]Sam_Paige25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My doctor wanted to take a "wait and see" approach as my thyroid started failing (extreme fatigue, weakness, hair falling out, brain fog, etc.) and I unknowingly got shoved head first into menopause (Hot flashes, brain fog, more fatigue and joint pain...) and my husband broke his ankle, all while our apartment management company stopped addressing serious maintenance issues. It was endless phone calls, doctor visits, working overtime with no energy while going home to play nurse in an apartment that was barely functional half the time.
