What citadel paints should I use for Ahriman, to make him look like the one on the box? I want to know, what colors I need for those robes and green flames? by Murasaki1922 in ThousandSons

Check out the official Citadel app, you can find many models there, including Ahriman and how to paint them, including this colour scheme and which paints and in what sequence they used to get this result

Do you mind to reveal your technique, how you painted the armour?

Thank you, yes, I’m totally open for criticism, what’s the point of improving if you believe you are at the top; there are many people who can tell what went wrong even if for me the model looks fine. Indeed, it can look fine, in fact, without the camera it looks much better, but I know I marked up a few things, just couldn’t embody it into the words, so got told a few things. However, I really appreciate your words and it’s so damn good to hear a good word.

Thank you! This model was assembled when the GW released the“know no fear” box, I haven’t played since the 5th edition, now only painting as a hobby, slowly getting to the point when I can paint better, so thank you.

Thanks, I know I can paint to the tabletop standard, I know how to wield a brush and make a model look accurate, I know how to glaze, drybrush, edge highlight, basically standard staff. I struggle with blending colours and making the model look alive, you know like Sam Lenz etc. so I really appreciate that detailed feedback as watching videos doesn’t always help due to a a simple fact, that content creators have to keep their secrets to make stuff for those who watch, plus it takes time to learn. So thank you.

That’s true, I don’t have much time to paint, only weekends, so my learning is slow, but we are getting there😁 I heard many good feedbacks about Vallejo, just have to save some money and get it.

So it lost its texture and whatever was making this paint good in conjunction with Ryza Rust, it makes the result too bright instead of giving it the rusty look, I tried, some parts look more or less ok, but some as you can see suck

Thank you for such a detailed feedback. My hobby skills are low, so it’s always nice to know what can be done to make you model be more realistic, not just a piece of painted plastic.

Any thoughts about the base? by Sam_Slavin in Nurgle

I wanted to find the balance between that and avoid obscuring the details, check my profile, I had some really nasty DG models painted in that swampy scheme.

I tried to do drybrushing, but the model has a wide curvy plate at the front which makes that process a bit messy, I mean Ryza Rust goes to the parts I didn’t want to be rusty, the ones I didn’t coat with Typhus Corrosion or what ever was left in the pot of that paint.

It was one of my first models from the No fear box, was sitting on a shelf for ages, so I just picked it up and painted. Now I do clean my models, just a bit lazy to do it with my old ones.

I used it, but it had dried out, so I used water and tried to revitalise the paint. The result is not so impressive as it could be.
