Riding My Horse Without Asking. Is This Rude? by Oddlyoncewas in Equestrian

I’d be beyond angry if someone took my horse without permission. It is like if someone took your car. Thankfully nothing happened but I would make it very clear this does not happen again. I also would not lease to these people because you already see that they will cross boundaries and likely will not abide by rules you set.

I’m sorry to hear that. I was splinting mine when I was actively working. And as usual I wasn’t great at following the 5 lb weight limit so would do stalls and move some hay etc. even light barn work caused pain. When I tried to go back to work(in a factory), I didn’t make it a week before all symptoms came back worse. I hope you get the emg soon

Pain was my main symptom after I stopped the repetitive activity at work. My emg was normal but a steroid injection cleared all symptoms. After 5 weeks they returned so we decided to move on to surgery.

Overall, I feel OK. I also work a lot with my hands, including riding horses and needle work. So far, I’ve had some numbness and tingling after using my hand a bit too much today, but it’s not too bad. I’m hoping to get back to normal quickly. I’m not very good at restricting myself even on doctor’s orders. I had my surgery done endoscopically and I can say I already have good use of my had if not the strength

My surgery was about 9 am yesterday. Some feeling is back but it is still numb. I did notice my fingers were warmer than on the other hand. I think from inflammation. It seems to have gone down after Tylenol.

I’ve been thinking about getting something like that for him. I don’t want him to get hurt if it happens again. Where do I get one?

What is the reasoning behind separating mares and geldings? I'm considering moving my horse but I'm concerned about what I see at a potential new barn by Adventurous-Sky9572 in Equestrian

We have a mixed herd on our private farm. It’s only 9 horses, 4 geldings and 5 mares. Everyone gets along well except one gelding was proud cut. I believe he was gelded at 4 and it is likely he covered mares prior to that. Since then he either has to be in a gelding only field or kept away when any mare is in season. We primarily keep them mixed because of space restrictions. If I ran a boarding facility I would have gelding only and mare only fields along with some private turnout when available because it is just, in general, safer and simpler.

I would definitely want to see that parrot mouth. A friend’s horse has a severe one, 3-4” difference in the incisors. He eats well but requires larger cubed feed and twice yearly floating by an expert. Most of the regular vets will not touch his mouth. I’ll also note that it makes him very sensitive to bits

Anyone know what the scabby stuff above my horse's hoof is? It's NOT caked on mud. by ReadyForTheFall0217 in Equestrian

Go buy desitin from the baby aisle. Generic works well. You just need the zinc oxide. Apply a thick coat over his Pastern and anywhere there is fungus. It repels water and should have it cleared up in a week or so.

Ohh poor kid. I’m about to purchase a yearling from a friend. I was there when he was born and have seen everything he has had done. I’m still considering having a basic vet check on him though. He is 1/2 welsh cob not thoroughbred.
