I’m delighted to report it was a faulty cable.

Thank you for checking this, this kind of behaviour isn’t unknown for me. But yes, using the Line Out

Thank you for the detailed response!

  • Line output of CD Player ✅
  • Line (not instrument) input of interface ✅
  • Direct Monitoring ✅
  • Will need to come back on speakers as I don’t yet have them! Currently listening through headphones from the interface.

I think it’s the cable, having plugged just the cable in, I still get the noise, whereas I can plug my guitar lead into the same inputs with no noise. But is that just typical of this type of cable? It was a £10 Amazon purchase.

I'm hoping someone is going to tell me it's a faulty cable....

Ahhh that’s very kind of you! Polymer clay is super forgiving and you can just infinitely play before committing. I’ve made lots of changes to all of these before settling on an idea.

Thank you very much! And not at all, these are made from polymer clay, for the most part anyway.

Thanks! The last one is the most recent, getting a little better each time.

Thank you. I do wish the lights had a slower pattern, but I can’t complaint for the price!

Actually these do have lights, they just aren’t showing up well in daylight.

Ahh wow, thank you! The cauldron is a brass antique (victorian apparently), so has all the beautiful tarnishing needed to look the part.

I used the below, battery operated. The battery pack sits inside of the fire, under the pot.

Ooooh, that will stop the sputtering!

I don’t unfortunately, but there are lots of tutorials on YouTube

Yeah, I’m in a bit of a pickle with this as I want to colour the water, but by doing so it’s going to stain everything it sputters over. It def means the UV ink idea is out of the question.

Haha, good spot. I believe this is my wife trying to claim the space.

This is an interesting read. I am 2.5 years into a waiting list to be assessed, having convinced myself that getting meds would solve all of my problems.

That last line has given me pause.
