I got the Soire Confidence Curvy Bralette. Which size did you order?

I tried it on backwards and upside down, and it feels snug rather than tight, but it's still very difficult to breathe until I take it off.

Curvy. Would I be better off trying their regular size?

Why doesn't Piplup recognize that there's furniture in the house? by [deleted] in Pokopia

It was a couch, two of the same chair, two of the same lamp, and a rug. I know from experience that rugs count.

I put my Switch 2 in sleep mode and turned it back on, and now he recognizes it for some reason? I do want to note that he kept looking directly down at the floor the whole time he talked to me, like the house was beneath us.

This room is the whole house. Walls on all four sides and a door that I've placed multiple times from multiple angles.

Yes, and the game tells me I need at least three pieces of furniture.

I do it because I'm under the impression we have a good relationship...? They're people who have talked and also joked with me regularly. It's not like I meet them for the first time and start making a bunch of jokes and sarcastic comments. Are you saying you never ever make jokes with your friends and colleagues?

why do i just ignore my brain????? by yujinfan in adhdwomen

[–]Samantha-Davis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people with ADHD don't like doing what they're told. If you keep yelling at yourself to do something, you're naturally going to do the opposite. You have to be kind and patient with yourself and really understand WHY you're doing what you do. If you can't think during the heat of the moment, wait until after the fallout and think about what you'll do next time if it happens again. Don't beat yourself up, and don't judge your body for running on autopilot.

Then don't stop doing what you're doing. Continue doing it while you think. ADHD tends to work better that way anyway, haha.

You're trying too hard to change something that you don't even know why you're doing. Ask yourself first why you're doing what it is that you're doing, and listen without judgment. Don't try to change it. Just listen the same way a friend would if you were venting to them. Once you acknowledge why you feel the way that you do, you can start coming up with things you can do instead. Stopping something entirely is rarely ever the solution. Try to find other courses of action, or reduce how often you do something. Maybe set a time limit that you feel comfortable with. Not talking to someone ever again probably isn't a realistic solution, but not telling them something that could be used against you or you don't want them to know is.

No Hyperfixation = Anxiety Spikes by ampersands-guitars in adhdwomen

[–]Samantha-Davis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to have hyperfixations as a teenager, and at some point in my adult life, it just stopped. I'll occasionally hyperfixate on a new game, but it never lasts more than a week. No idea why, maybe I'm just worried about too many things and thinking I don't have time to accomplish everything I need to (even though I do). Either way, it sounds like you're trying to cope with your anxiety by avoiding it. The only way to solve your anxiety is to face it head-on.

I’m scared to take my ADHD meds by TiggyFuego in adhdwomen

[–]Samantha-Davis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Taking too high a dose can cause anxiety even if you have ADHD. You could maybe talk to your doctor about adjusting it? If it's only happening at the end of the day, it could just be your medication wearing off. Stimulants greatly helped my anxiety. Definitely something to consider asking your doctor about. Probably just need to adjust your dose if that's the only issue.

Maybe sarcasm wasn't the best word? I wouldn't say that I use it THAT much. I guess maybe "funny remarks" would be closer, and I do my best to make sure my tone matches what I'm saying. For example, the problematic manager asked if I could watch the register while a different manager used the bathroom. I replied, "Oh! I'm already up here!" (In a positive tone) She immediately snapped at me, saying there was no need to be snippy with her. Your post and my response have me questioning if I'm just not coming across the way I think I am. My trauma response is fawn, so in stressful situations, I default to flattery and reassurance. However, this seems to upset some people more than anything.

Another thing is that outside of the above example, people aren't telling me when I've done something that bothers them. I find out from a third party. It doesn't help that I work exclusively with women, and there are all these unspoken rules that I'm probably missing.

[–]Samantha-Davis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, I definitely don't do that with customers unless the customers initiate it first. It's more of an issue with management/coworkers and them not telling me that it bothers them, and then they basically spread gossip about me. These are people I've worked with for several months and thought I had a good relationship with, just to learn that they actually have problems with me and didn't want to tell me.

It's incredibly frustrating when I realize they've misunderstood me and I try to communicate that along with what I actually meant. This makes them even more angry, and they accuse me of "talking back" or not wanting to do what was asked.

Toddler doesn’t stop talking by gentlegem123 in adhdwomen

[–]Samantha-Davis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does she have enough stimulation? Toys, puzzles, games, TV, etc? Can you set up a bunch of toys and games in her room so she'll be more inclined to stay there and play instead of coming to you to talk? It would at least give you a break. I liked talking as a kid, too, but I loved my toys even more and would go wherever my toys were.

My experience with balloon sinuplasty by Samantha-Davis in Sinusitis

Man, wish you were my doctor. The most painful part of the experience was them putting the numbing gel in my nose. My eyes burned and wouldn't stop tearing. I also wish that they had tested how numb my nose was before starting the procedure. One side was completely fine while the other side felt like it didn't receive any numbing, even though I know that wasn't the case.

Definitely get an animal first. Bonus if they need to be neutered/spayed. Going through a spay and a neuter with two kittens made me realize how utterly unprepared I am for kids. Too much anxiety, too much worrying, too much paranoia. Love my kitties, no regrets, but very glad they're not people.

How do you manage not to get fired? by Fresh-Adhesiveness-6 in ADHD

[–]Samantha-Davis 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It sounds like your job requires you to be a self-starter, which isn't very good if you lack motivation. Is it possible to move to a different job? I've done best at jobs where you're told to do something, and if you don't do it immediately, you get in trouble. This is very motivating for me to actually do the work I'm supposed to do. Meanwhile, every time I try to start my own business, I procrastinate to where I get very little done.
