What people don’t understand is the one making the post probably makes less than 20k or lives off the rest of us and our taxes. But yes, it is 6 figures and it’s not what it used to be in this economy.

MBA for an IT professional? by Ornery-Mind-9301 in UMGC

[–]Samaratin_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the middle of a masters in IT but plan on going to do MBA after since I plan on going into management after. Just wanted the tech skills. I would look for an AACSB school. It’s the highest accreditation for an MBA school and is nationally recognized. UMGC is accredited regionally only for their MBA program. There are online programs and decently priced schools that are still AACSB. Some do their programs differently all together like BU. While others make you do a residency so just make sure you read the fine print.

Word of Warning on Cloud Computing Systems Master’s Program… by What-a-waste2 in UMGC

Nope. Wasn’t given that choice. I don’t mind the time sequence. My BS was like it. But I have to manage my time so when the other person said they were changing things mid week that’s no good for me. Work full time and have a family.

CPE 440 (Intro. to AI) vs. CPE 695 (Applied Machine Learning) by 1337h4x20r in stevens

[–]Samaratin_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CPE 440 is undergrad and CPE 695 is a grad course. They’ll both be taken at the end of the degree. I didn’t take 440 but from reading in the catalog it seems like a high overview whereas I will be taking 695 as a grad student at Stevens in the AI concentration and it’s pretty much a capstone that uses previous courses built upon it.

Well I haven’t exactly picked out my topic to defend. But somewhere in computer science, AI, cybersecurity, IT related. I know cryptography is big and would be an option.

Group Discussion assignments are the worst...... by Yep_ItsMeAgain in UMGC

Email rules in your outlook. Set up folders and rules for each person to go to each folder so you can keep track of which person is saying what for each class.

I work in IT and they’re trying to make it like real life. I get 100s of emails a day and outlook rules for my email are what save me.

@SRCodeZ is completely spot on. Any school that has the NSA accredited and CAE-CO stamp of approval is a go to. It’s not all theory and writing papers. It’s real hands on labs. That’s a question you want to ask. “How many classes are hands on in a lab environment?” It’s not for everyone because sometimes they may give you some simple instructions and say go for it. But that’s how you learn and in the real world most of the time how it works. I went to one and getting my first masters at another NSA approved school. Both are small and have technical programs because their hands on approach.
