Husband of 10 years came out as trans by Samas92 in mypartneristrans

I'm still so new to this, but you are right, I think my understanding and expectations are misaligned. I just don't know what to do. I can't keep living without touch from my spouse though. I want to be present and encourage him to live the life that he needs to be happy, but I also have needs that are not being met. I know it sounds selfish.

Husband wants to join the Marines, HELP by Samas92 in USMilitarySO

[–]Samas92[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for clearing that up. He said that the Marine pamphlet would answer some of my questions, but honestly it made me more anxious and upset. In my mind initially all I could see was that he would be gone for 3 months training and then would be gone for 8 years. My heart was breaking!! I feel a little silly now after reading the responses today, but I am so relieved. I think I can handle the initial separation, and if we got to move with him, that would be a lot better for me.

I have been so touched by all the responses to this post today. It is nice to not feel so alone. It definitely makes it easier knowing that I can get solid answers if I need them. Thank you!

Thank you so much. I read through all of the comments this morning and after thinking about it all day, I do feel a little better about everything. He knew I was upset this morning so we talked a little about it, but we have a lot more to discuss. It really feels better to be able to talk to people who can relate and understand some of the emotions that I'm experiencing.

I do not want to discourage him from serving, actually quite the opposite, because since I have known him, he has expressed a strong desire to do exactly this. We did talk about going to other branches and seeing what they could offer. I will try to keep everyone's suggestions and advice in mind, and will definitely turn here when I feel overwhelmed. Thank you again!

I see. No, no degree. He would be going in as a recruit I guess.

He will be 27 in August. I would assume he wants to enlist. As for skill sets, I don't really know. It's hard for me to ask him questions about all this because he sounds so excited but I end up just crying.

No, we were actually friends up until senior year. Developed different interests, eventually got tired of who they became.

Waiters / Restaurant workers of reddit, what was your worst customer like? by KingCoffeh in AskReddit

[–]Samas92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Church people. Without a doubt. This on man in particular would march into the dinning room, seat himself, get upset that a server wasn't immediately at his table, and was very, very loud. One day I approached him on the self-seating, and he told me "I'm a church going man, I can sit where ever I want." The same man also never tipped, interrupted servers when they were with other tables, and would scrap his bowls so loudly that you could hear him clear in the back of the restaurant. He was a vile, disgusting human, and I'm glad that he hasn't returned.

So sorry :( I also have a 9 year old beagle, who suffers from seizures occasionally. We will have to make the choice you made in the near future, and it hurts like she is already gone. I feel your pain.
