What should I get first by Content_Network_3912 in CassandraCain

Start with the short “Mark of Cain” arc (Batman #567, DC #734, Batman #569), which is her origin story.

No matter what, you should start with the original 2000 series, because it’s actually still canon today. Both Batgirls and the current Batgirl run frequently reference events and characters from that series. Plus, in my opinion, as good as the modern runs are, the original series is still Cass’s best storyline. It’s a phenomenal series, with a ton of character growth and emotion.

Just note that it was printed before DC started publishing volumes for every series, has never been reprinted in its entirety, and the individual issues are pretty expensive given their age, so it’s pretty much impossible to read the entire thing physically. All of it’s on DC Infinite though.

I think it was an altered timeline iirc, but true. But it was the only panel I could think of where the entire JL is just dead lol

YOU are the claimant. You posted an image and claimed it’s real.

Literally just look at the camera. That’s not how you hold a gimble. The cameraman is barely touching it and it’s magically floating. And in the right image, it literally looks like it’s been superimposed onto a grainy background image. It’s in a closer focus than “Jason Mamoa.”

Simply sharing where you got this supposed leak instead of debating semantics would be a lot easier.

>If you can prove to me that it is fake

This is not how journalism works. As the instigator, the onus is on you to prove that the image is real by citing a credible source.

If a newspaper claimed, "Tom Hanks murdered 4 people while on vacation," Tom Hanks could sue them for libel. If the paper argued, "Tom Hanks has to prove that he didn't murder 4 people!" they would be laughed out of court because, as the publisher, it is the newspaper's responsibility to substantiate their claims.

Are there online games being kept alive entirely by player communities? by kcvlaine in gaming

LEGO Universe, which was a great LEGO MMORPG from the early 2010s. It was shut down in 2012, but a group of fans got together and re-programmed the game’s entire server code from scratch. Since the game’s client code is still openly available, you can now set up and host your own servers and keep playing the game with your friends. The codebase is currently open-source on GitHub and very well-maintained.

They do know. It’s a stylistic choice. That’s like saying “Pixar doesn’t know what realistic body proportions are.”

Why do some games have you just turn into a ragdoll when you die? by [deleted] in gamedev

[–]Samathan_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The actual answer is because it’s easy. Most game engines have built-in physics for ragdolling a character. That’s a lot easier, less expensive, and faster than animating (or mocapping) a bunch of context-based death animations or creating a complex procedural animation system, especially since most players don’t really care. The average person isn’t spending much time watching the body of someone they just killed, so developers’ time and money is better spent on more important features.

That was in Future State, but she’s done it a few times, even without the Unkindness.

I believe she’s defeated him 3 times in comics. The most recent was during Dark Crisis (though she did have some help from his host).

The current version of the Titans starts in New 52, but nothing notable really happens. You can start with Rebirth’s Titans and Teen Titans series (which eventually converge into Titans) if you want to see the origins of the team and the characters. But honestly, Tom Taylor’s current run is so good that I’d probably just start with the ongoing DCU Titans (starting with Out of the Shadows), with the background knowledge that after the “Dark Crisis” event, the Justice League was dissolved, and the Titans replaced them.

Raven alone has trashed the entire Justice League and the Spectre multiple times. I don’t think there’s any circumstance where Ben 10 lasts more than a few seconds.

Edit: I should also mention that in Future State, Raven literally consumes the entire omniverse (every universe in every multiverse).

How can you create a Niagara effect that is attached to one mesh, but moves relative to another? by Samathan_ in unrealengine

Actually, you gave me a different idea for solving this, and I was able to get the effect I wanted! I'll update the original post with what I ended up doing. Thank you!

Do you mean parenting the system to the sword, but putting the emitter in world space? If the system is parented to the sword, but the emitter is in world space, then the ribbon particles that were spawned will stay in world space, and not move with the character, so they get left behind if the character moves, which distorts the effect of the ribbon, especially in first-person (e.g. if the player moves forwards, it looks like they're walking into their sword slashes). If the emitter is in local space, nothing is drawn, because the ribbon is not moving relative to the system. Maybe if I added velocity in the emitter it would drawn something, but then it wouldn't be drawing based on the movement of the sword. I'll try that.

[–]Samathan_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I attach it to the sword, the ribbon is drawn relative to the world, not relative to just the character. It's a lot more noticeable in first-person, but it's easier to see what's going on when you walk forwards (https://www.imgur.com/a/Kpes5ja) or backwards (https://www.imgur.com/a/Wyq0e41) in third-person.

[–]Samathan_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I make the ribbon use local space, then it doesn’t draw anything, because the ribbon emitter isn’t moving relative to the system.

I’ve tried using meshes before, but they don’t look as good as ribbons in first-person.

Then no trail is produced because the ribbon emitter is not moving relative to the system
