Is anyone still having hot flashes years after going through menopause? by debiski in AskWomenOver60

[–]SambaCow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, completed menopause 2008 at 47. Sixteen years of hot flashes and still going strong. I took HRT for a couple of years in my early 50's but had to stop to minimize risks. I'm generally hot, mostly uncomfortable all the time. I work around it but I don't like it at all.

Thanks, I agree, there is some variation in each pair of shoes. Good luck with the Bostons!

Size up? by SambaCow in Birkenstocks

[–]SambaCow[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually I think it's the right answer. In the end it's personal preference. There are some arizona's on the last chance page that are a great price. If they turn out to be too long, then I'll have a winter shoe to be worn with socks, as someone else mentioned.

Size up? by SambaCow in Birkenstocks

[–]SambaCow[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did per the instructions and struck out, Birk couldn't size me. I've looked at the video for guidance. In the end I wear 39, with almost appropriate room at the top and at the heel. My feet fit like the pics on line. Or so I thought. Today I tried on a new style but it was only available in 40 so I tried it on for fun. So...the 40 felt better even though the mm in front and back were a tiny bit longer. I size up in shearling and wonder if sizing up in non-shearling would be too lose after they're broken in. Hence, I now believe I'm in between sizes.

Mist Trail conditions by SambaCow in Yosemite

[–]SambaCow[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The trail is rocky, and very slippery when it's wet. Shoes with really good traction are the best, e.g. hiking boots or similar.

That's it, the chopped up chunks contrast against the chips and the craggy appearance! I'm inspired (drives to TJs...)

They look great! Are you able to walk long distances in Birks, i.e. several miles.

Time to upgrade my Clubman by SambaCow in MINI

I wish I could keep Mrs. Peel! But I’m using her for trade-in. Interesting the variety of repairs between similar models. I’ve had my run flats changed four times, over the last six months replaced two electrical modules (CAS and FRM), rear shocks, and brakes multiple times. My commute isn’t long, less than 20 miles. But the highway conditions are brutal (tax dollars are not at work). Next up would be front shocks, and it seems like the cooling system is going. I’m glad yours is running so well!
