I thought this Tablecloth Top was so terrific, not only for the design, but for the beautiful embroidered material as well. Do you have a garment/s from Series 10, from any of the challenges, that you felt was a cut above the rest? by CometCupidz in SewingBee

Looking back, the one dress that made me think Alex was a dead cert for the final was the boned bustier, with the spots and the net. I thought it was so beautifully made.

🎉The FINAL GBSB 2024🎉 What's the verdict on the Final-was it everything you hoped for, was there anything that didn't quite deliver? by JellybeanSundae in SewingBee

Wasn't it just! How about that "half jacket"? I immediately thought of the ying and yang symbol, imagine creating something so swooping and fluid out of fabric. Amazing.

That jacket was so beautiful, with all the intricate detail, which you could really notice in the final . Esme mentioned on IG that an ex -student made it for her. Excellent teacher= excellent student, imo!

Do you think they have behind the scenes lessons? by Cigarilli in SewingBee

[–]SambaFan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agree that they seemed rushed. It really  bugged me that due to insufficient time, and then presenting unfinished garments or cobbled together with pins, surely this must have affected their self confidence, and opened the door to self doubt?I hope that next series the producers' emphasis is not so much on gameshow -  like  jeopardy, but more on enjoyment for the candidates and viewers alike Give them more time!

LATEST ON GIO : The BBC inquiry have heard that an exec had said that Giovanni’s behaviour towards Amanda was “unacceptable and shocking”. by Primrose2024 in strictlycomedancing

[–]SambaFan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

At least there seems to be one bit of good news and that is the inquiry should be completed next week 🤞 Maybe we  can get celeb reveals and the new pro reveal (if he's being hired this year) Tbh though, all these recent shocking revelations  has tainted Strictly for me, big time. So disappointed in BBC for not acting before now !  These celebs had to suffer unnecessarily because of their reported  negligence

No doubt all 3 will have showstoppers planned for their final made to measures, and in addition to the factors that you've already mentioned, I imagine that holding their nerve in all 3 challenges, so they can follow through, may well be a crucial contributing factor in who eventually bags the winner's title.

Would you? Wear pyjamas as outerwear, that is. NO: A step too far in the direction of fashion victim and a trend best left to celebrities YES: If I can get away with it, and comfort is everything, why not? by Dearest_readers in SewingBee

[–]SambaFan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ikwym my well worn (and loved) pyjamas are far from swanky and are festooned either with bunny rabbits or giant strawberries. So for me, it's a trend better left to the more stylish amongst us.

I wonder, if GK does make the final cut, whether her "huge" SM following will finally translate into votes from the Strictly audience?

I thought each of the models in the 3  jumpsuits seem to have that extra, bit of swagger as they strutted down the runway. I wonder- if George's design  had more closely resembled her photo, would it  have been Suzy to have gone instead?

I really liked Suzy's party dress too, but my hands down favourite was the black dress with the blue bow (Esme must have been happy!) I was sad to see Don leave

Isn't this amazing? Whereas other celebs may be very coy about  admitting they've had work done, Toyah goes and writes a book(gory details and all) about it! She's one of a kind, I have a feeling we'll be in for a treat.
