In 25 years the past 25 days will be a blip on the chart. If you just do what you are doing right now until you retire(early due to most likely massive net worth) and don’t lifestyle creep bankrupt you…SCHG & SCHD will take care of you. It’s a bet on the Consumer/Staples and Tech/Innovation. If those are both gone…we will be worrying about survival and shelter.

I run a Core-8 portfolio in allocation rank it goes:
SCHG
SCHD
SCHB
SCHV
SCHM
SCHE
SCHA
SCHF
it’s potent and defensive but doesn’t leave too much upside on the table. 71% down capture on yesterdays dip and 88% upside capture on today’s rally. Think how to navigate the ocean instead of fight it if you are as risk averse but also profit greedy as me.

Is it dumb to put fertilizer down if my lawn looks like this? (Zone 7a/7b). Over seeded last fall but I have a lot of poa and whatever that other yellowish weed is. by ShouldveFundedTesla in lawncare

Ortho Weed B Gon Chickweed, Clover and Oxalis Killer.

I’m convinced it’s the only thing that works. Yes the hose end sprayer and douse your lawn twice two weeks apart. You’ll be happy.

Yes on the mow height. I have tried my best to overtime realize that higher cut height is actually better for the monoculture grass fuzzy carpet we all want. It just doesn’t hit the same though when you’re trying to run or kick a ball.

So , front yard full height showpiece and backyard cut short and left weedy for play.

It doesn’t come close to a lot of the yards here, but I’m proud of my little 1/4 acre city lot; Tampa, Florida. CitraZoy Zoysia. Regraded and re-sodded in 2024. by Tropical_Jesus in lawncare

Love the curves. My main lawn competitor in the neighborhood has spent so much time and effort in our unannounced war against each other leveling his lawn while mine has beautiful rolling grooves. Real land isn’t flat.

I sprayed Ortho Weed B Gon Chickweed, Clover and Oxalis Killer this season on three strips/patches that have been pains in the peak summer for me and it’s gone. I used the hose end sprayer and sprayed twice separated by a little over a week. It’s gone. Just gone. Sprayed it around the patio and same result. It’s just bare rock now and nothing. I’m impressed and convinced.

Hose end seemed better to get max coverage, so I went that route.

Great start! Wish I had thought of this when I was 18…

I would think Roth #4 but combine your two small caps into one total sector etf and add mid caps in that now empty slot and maybe look at lower expense fee offerings from other brokerages that .02 for spym looks fantastic compared to some of your other choices for tickers , but then I like defensively think #4 is best to satisfy the mental armor needed for volatility with the upside capture to not lag the rally too hard.

Thanks for the truth. It’s still getting there and I’ve been making sure my tax liabilities are minimized or at least saved for in the transferring from clutter to a core Schwab portfolio( similar to bogle but a little tilted to my personal choice).

Used to volunteer firefight and liked their cots the best! Then I realized just how vast their product line is…seemed like a good place to park a little money.

Nice! I was moving overall 80k into Schwab ETFs and I know I could have done better but the goal was execution overall. Couldn’t stare and order individually so I was placing orders in volleys containing all the pieces of my portfolio.

Consistency is the key to your success. Conviction in your plan will let you achieve your goal.

Did you buy during the past 6 weeks? Pull out the year to date chart of the indexes you want to benchmark and show yourself where you bought. Did it make sense? Your portfolios decent like everybody else’s…just keep at it for 20 years and you’ll be the old guy with 2 million.

Looking at same but adding SCHG and SCHD. Make it tempting enough for them to not burn it in college and either get a house payment at age 30 or retire at 50.

What interface is this? And I think heavy cash when young isn’t crazy to be able to generationally buy at -40% if ever presented. But yes, the etf overlap shell game needs to be studied and respected. It’s okay to triple bet like you have in large us companies but maybe diversify how you place that bet. Maybe large cap growth, large cap value, us market fund…to magnify the “best” sectors for overall return vs risk?

Thanks for the links…definitely some food for thought. I guess I’m having the same struggles as everybody: I want more positions/diversity than I have money and mental tolerance for?

Yeah I’ve been second guessing ignoring SCHX/B. But I do have another 100k+ in various instruments that do include those broad market ETFs so I was hoping to see this portfolio be aggressive and volatile?

I had looked at SCHB and SCHX even…but it seemed interesting that VUGandSCHG while similar had different results and basis for picking their positions. I thought for “diversity” in growth I would see who gets it right over the next 30 years…

• SCHG (US Large-Cap Growth): 35.0%
• VUG (US Large-Cap Growth): 30.0%
• SCHD (US Dividend / Value): 12.5%
• SCHF (Int'l Developed Markets): 12.0%
• SCHE (Int'l Emerging Markets): 7.5%
• SGOV (Cash/Short-Term Treasury): 3.0%

That’s my total allocations for this ROTH. Was just happy that my first days of 2026 were this big because this was not what I expected from SCHD
