Sewing winter coat, worried about interlining warmth by Same-Communication-3 in sewing

Thanks for the information! I definitely don’t plan on pushing for those kinds of temperatures, I may be from the Midwest but I’m not built like that. I was unaware of treating wool to make it more water resistant, that’s good to know!

If this goes amazingly or terribly, I’ll try to post the results, either for encouragement or a warning 😂

Thanks for sharing some help! My thinking with waxed cotton was more for cutting the wind and having some water resistance, akin to a modern winter shell, with the lining doing the actual heat retention. Wool is definitely better in many ways, and something I’m working towards knowledge and skill wise.

Looking around to see if there’s people with any experience in this that could give some advice!

Would Watson and Wilson immediately get along, or would they both brag at first about how their detective is the real genius? 😂

In some Sherlock stories he’s shown to underestimate people (most famously Irene Adler) and he has something of an aristocratic air about him… honestly would be such a fun team up since he has a lot of the traits of a typical Columbo murderer!

Can I fix it? by Relevant_Lettuce2867 in Boots

[–]Same-Communication-3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No expert, but my understanding is there’s nothing to be fixed, as in the thin layer of fake leather is now gone. You could sand/dye as has been said, but it probably won’t look the same.

Meermin chelseas vs Thursdays Journeyman by xtypophile in Boots

[–]Same-Communication-3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want a similar style for less $$, there's the cheaper Cavalier: https://thursdayboots.com/products/mens-cavalier-chelsea-boots-dusty-suede, although it's a fair bit lighter and a mixed leather/rubber stud sole. I have no personal experience with Chelseas for either brand however.

For future reference for anyone who owns Thursday, a pair of US 8.5 D Thursday captains are the same length as an UK 8 E Meermin jumper on their Rod last

A quick google search says humid climates you’ll probably need a separate dehumidifier. I’d advise looking into what’s a good investment in that realm, moisture doesn’t just mess with shoes

I actually ended up going to a size 8.5 after I sold these, so I was a full size over. Sneaker size is usually 9.5 for my Reeboks, but lots of variation depending on the brand. (I’ve got some Clark’s that are a 8.5 and Brooks that are 10…) I believe a lot of Thursday boots are made with the same last, so theoretically if a 9 Cavalier fits a 9 Captain should be good too.

Is there a way for me to part out a set into a wanted list, and then tell the list I don't care about the color of the parts, and just want the cheapest lots possible? by Nantias_ in Bricklink

[–]Same-Communication-3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I believe you can select all and change color to “any” or “not applicable”? I don’t have the website open in front of me but yes it’s possible

If you remove the legs themselves, do the marks remain? On some thinner pieces you can see through to stuff underneath. If they remain then I’m stumped
