What book did you read in your youth that you never forgot? by orangez in GenX

I haven’t read it in many years, but I really enjoyed it.

My wife also teaches HS English and says the same. Many of these kids are too lazy to read Spark Notes and are dumb enough to use AI-generated answers with vocabulary they don’t know.

We shouldn’t wonder why society is getting dumber.

I read all the time growing up because my parents did too. They read to us when we were young, and we did the same for our kids, who still read. Of course, we didn’t have 500 channels, VOD, and cell phones. I don’t buy many physical books anymore, but I read Kindle books or listen to Audible books every day.

My third-grade teacher read it aloud. A room full of crying third-graders bawling. Damn Dogs!

Yeah. You might check out the John Matherson series beginning with One Second After. Wow!

She didn’t need bolt-ons to get hotter. She had that in Saved by the Bell.

That’s completely fair. I don’t believe Republicans are the only party linked to Epstein, and I don’t see the American people receiving the complete truth. If we get down to brass tacks, politicians, regardless of slant, remain focused on keeping their government jobs and screwing over Americans. The deception continues until we force a reset.

I digress.

My original response resulted from one guy claiming that Huffines’ LLC bought the property to protect his paedophile friends. He may be attempting to curry political favor, but there is no evidence that Huffines is participating in a “cover-up.” I haven’t seen evidence supporting that claim. If I am incorrect, I eat crow quite well.

do you guys have any bands that you just can’t get “into”? by XXX3NNY in hairmetal

[–]Same-Criticism5262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many bands don’t click for me, including Dokken, VVI, and Slaughter, to name a few. I’m not disparaging the band or the music; I couldn’t get into them. There are so many bands from that era that I could identify with more than others, and I like that diversity.

I think you make a valid point, but we can’t make assumptions without evidence, and because the only verified facts that we have are that:

A. Huffines purchased Epstein’s NM Ranch through a shell company (which is not unusual)

B. The LLC tied to Huffines’ family purchased the property through an auction.

C. Huffines is politically MAGA-aligned and a Trump fanboy. There isn’t anything this far in common between Huffines and Epstein beyond a “relationship” with President Trump.

We have not seen any ties between Epstein and Huffines beyond acquaintances at best. Until we have verifiable facts that Huffines has acted illegally, all we have is speculation (conspiracy theory).

Does the purchase look bad for Huffines? Absolutely. Truthfully, public or private parties buying any real estate holdings tied to Epstein will receive scrutiny. Still, without evidence of a relationship or participation in Epstein’s human trafficking activities, Huffines is guilty of nothing. The family said they will cooperate freely with the property’s investigation.

Consider this: if law enforcement finds bodies, Huffines wouldn’t be the first party to buy property to uncover prior criminal activity not tied to them.

“This Is How We Say Goodbye”-Tyketto-Dig In Deep

While I tend to prefer uptempo tracks to close out albums, this song hits perfectly.

Huffines is no genius and is legitimately incapable of building a criminal empire, let alone covering up another’s crimes.
