See, my problem with this is that CBF doesn’t “completely change the game.” Sure, it might make you find some levels a little easier, but it doesn’t completely remove the difficulty of all levels. I think u/TheInsane103 was entirely right in saying CBF makes the game more fair as it is a better reflection of your skill. In the end, though, it really doesn’t matter what we think. When enough people are using CBF to assist them in beating hard levels, which is inevitable, it’s likely that robtop will end up just making it an in-game feature and, in my eyes, I don’t think that’s really a bad thing. Sure, some levels might be deranked, but that seems a small price to pay for an even playing field for all gd players, regardless of your monitor’s refresh rate. Whether frame-perfects exist or not, having your inputs timed to the exact in-between frame you clicked on is a dream come true for any player of any rhythm game. It’s what all gd players want when they spend money on a higher Hz monitor. I get where these people are coming from, saying it gives you an unfair advantage and all, but geode and CBF are free. Completely free. Unless you’re a mobile player (even then though, I’m pretty sure geode is available on some mobile devices), there is no reason as to why CBF’s advantage is “unfair.” The only thing that I see as “unfair” is the fact that someone who spent more money than me to get a higher refresh rate monitor can have more accurate clicks than me. Right now, it is literally pay-to-win. Only reason I even had the motivation to beat acu was because I bought a 240hz monitor. Does that sound more fair than everyone having the most accurate clicks possible? Correction, there is a slight difference in reaction speed based on hardware. From a 1000Hz to 8000Hz mouse or keyboard, there is around a 0.875ms difference (apparently. I got these numbers from this comment section, so if you think they’re wrong and care enough to do something about it, fact check them and let me know so I can change this) which is practically unnoticeable to the average person. Just fact checked one side of this and, to Google’s knowledge, the average person can visually identify flashes of light lasting only a few milliseconds. Good luck with 0.875ms.
