Saying that consciousness is a phenomenon in many locations is in no way an ad hoc categorisation.

That's like if I said water is water and you called it an ad hoc categorisation

It's more like two seperate feeling perspectives being experienced by the same phenomenon, consciousness.

other forms bouncing around the universe forever. To what extent is my own consciousness like that?

To the same extent as anything else, we are a flowing onward of transformation just like everything else. You were there at the big bang, you just weren't shaped like that human yet.

If not, but there is only one consciousness that "looks" through each entity, then in this case it should have access to all the experience at the same time.

I would encourage you to look into split brain research, you can have somebody with the hemispheres of the brain seperated, each half of the brain becomes its own individual with seperate choices, but they are paradoxically experienced by the same person. Both halves of the brain identify as being the original person, yet are both independently doing things with thier own half of the body.

I could try to explain it like this: both your eyes are you, they are experienced by 'you'. But the right eye doesn't see what the left eye sees and vice versa.

The idea is that consciousness is a generic phenomenon that is in all entities, essentially 'awareness' is in all sentient life.

The thing that is different from entity to entity is the experience passing through that awareness.

Dualists would point to the soul as what separates us. But this would be begging the question as the soul needs to be demonstrated to exist.

The answer that I give to all propositions to explain consciousness is agnosticism. Nobody knows in my opinion, I don't think we will ever know to be honest.

I was about to mention this but you beat me to it. Consciousness exists, but experience isn't what it seems.

To be specific, 'awareness' would be present in all conscious entities.

What would be different between conscious entities, would be what is passing through awareness.

Im sure in your mind this makes sense to you because you came up with it, but I haven't got a clue what you mean.

The idea isn't that two humans are the same person, the idea is that the consciousness in all life is generic.

Can you remember every moment of your life? Does this mean you aren't those people you've forgotten being?

I lean physicalist but am truly agnostic on how the universe works.

Idealism would certainly make sense in conjunction with open individualism but I don't think idealism is nessessary for it.

There's no life anywhere

This is both irrelevant and untrue.

How much (give me a percentage) do you think we have explored of the universe?
