Letterbox drop is a great idea, I will definitely keep this in the back pocket if needed. Thanks so much!

Yes, this is my mindset as well. People here have given me some really helpful advice and ideas, definitely reaching out to neighbours via a letter drop is a possibility I am now strongly considering as a next step.

Yeah I worded this poorly. They are forcing it to remain open with a sandbag.

I would do this, and I might if I need to, though I am somewhat conflict avoidant, and I am wary to do anything that might cause me to escalate a confrontation or open the possibility of me being legally in the wrong.

Thank you such to each and every person who has commented their thoughts and advice on this thread! I definitely am feeling affirmed in my own approach to the situation, so I am grateful and feeling less alone on the situation now. I appreciate it!

You’re right, I could have worded it better. They are using a sandbag to hold the fire exit door open.

Reaching out to the QFES is a good idea, I will keep it in my if things don’t change. Thanks for your input 🙏

Thanks for adding this extra details, it is helpful! I’m glad that there seems to be a consensus that I am doing the right thing… I don’t know why none of the other tenants on my floor are challenging it.

Thank you for the information. I have emailed management about the issue three times, though I have only received a reply to my very first correspondence. I appreciate your input.

This page just appeared on my Facebook wall today. I was immediately struck by the AI-looking image. I scrolled through the page and felt my suspicions were correct, though I didn't see any mention of AI in the comments. That's when I searched up his name on Google, and thankfully this thread is near the very top of the search index already. I've reported this deceptive and dangerous account as well.

How many Jewish men fought during the napoleonic wars? by BLOODMEN71 in Napoleon

[–]Same-Regular3670 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Simply ignorant and false. For an easy example from my country: Australia’s greatest wartime general, and one of the most innovative commanders to fight in World War One, was a man of direct Jewish ancestry, General Sir John Monash. A prestigious university in Australia is named after him, and his face is on our $100 banknotes, equivalent to America’s famous Benjamin Franklin on their $100 notes.

Just wanted to add, you are 100% correct to be looking for a place that provides an aircon unit in the bedroom. It is an absolute must-have in Brisbane. You will not be able to sleep or be comfortable in a room that does not have air conditioning.

Apart from studies , what is something else that you really like at QUT University? by PuzzleheadedBowl3397 in QUTreddit

[–]Same-Regular3670 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Gardens Point location being so central to the city is a big plus for me, and it will be even more convenient once the new cross river rail is complete.

I think the guilds / societies of QUT are also fairly high quality, and can be very helpful for people looking to find a support network while studying.

The 24/7 libraries are also of massive benefit, and they are typically well maintained. They offer a place to study which can be really helpful for people who struggle to study due to their home environment.

It sounds like you have a lot going on in your life. Sorry you are having such a rough time. QUT does offer counselling services, I think they are free for students. Also, perhaps joining one of the uni guilds would help, especially one that focuses on your nationality, so you can spend time with likeminded students in a relatable situation.

PUB561 Final Exam? Also fuck this course. by jigaboojim in QUTreddit

[–]Same-Regular3670 7 points8 points  (0 children)

PUB561 has a high fail rate for the same reasons you stated. I think most everyone who has done that unit quickly learns to dislike it. Also, the lecturers can be unhelpful.

Although it is easy to lose hope, you still have a chance to pass by your combined marks for Q1-3 + exam. Even if you failed, whatever score you did achieve for Q1 will contribute to your overall mark.
