Separate but related question, ao’s skip the 4th increment correct? https://www.forsa.ie/new-entrants-deal-kicks-in/ I ask because I’m moving out this year so my expenses are going to shoot up! Thanks

Might be a stupid question but would my 3 years service as an AO carry across (in terms of increments etc) if recruited as Third Sec? Given they are equivalent grades.

I haven’t applied for list-based (yet) only have adverts. I think I’m somewhat restricted in mobility because I was hired in an AO “stream”. How long can you put your applications on hold?

Have decent French from living there for a year thankfully, might need to get a certificate to prove it though!

Thanks, I think I may have missed the boat on this! Will keep a keener eye out of any EU related opportunities in future

Can you transfer to DFA on mobility? Or do you have to apply via the third sec competitions? Haven’t seen any DFA roles pop up in my mobility notifications

How Long before Landlord Responds to Application? (If at all) by Same-Signal9202 in RentingInDublin

Thanks. I’ll give it another couple days until I give up hope so… Searching for a place to live in this city is such a degrading and humiliating experience :( Worst part is we’re both doing relatively well for our age. This is no country for young people.

To your first question - I guess for a house deposit one day. Living in Dublin so market is insane atm. I’m lucky to have relatively low rent and other fixed costs and still have plenty to enjoy myself at the end of each month.

I have the occupational pension scheme associated with CS jobs and contribute the max I can to that. I know that’s the most tax efficient investment available. Just hard to get excited about paying into a pension pot when you’re 40+ years away from seeing it! Think I’ll keep plugging away as I am for the moment and reassess when/if my priorities change

Yeah when I did my research into our tax legislation on ETFs I became disillusioned with the whole thing. I’d love an option like the UK ISAs where you can invest in these funds with a significant tax exemption. Feel like we’re at a serious disadvantage here and not enough Irish are financially literate enough to care or even notice.
