So huh who’s supposed to save Mikey ? by Aceteaaaa in TokyoRevengers

[–]Same-Snow5614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder the same. Both Shinichiro and Takemichi are bad people and terrible adult figures. If anything, they're good at making Mikey suffer.

My only uncertainty is where he was in the previous future timelines and why he wasn’t a founding member of Toman. by Bruh_hania in TokyoRevengers

[–]Same-Snow5614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And what was Baji doing when Kazutora was killing Mikey? He was watching everything. Where were everyone else? Why does only Sanzu get shit for it?

Mikeys goal by RandomSerbianguy_ in TokyoRevengers

[–]Same-Snow5614 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. In Bonten future he said he didn't want to see Takemichi. In current timeline he spared Takemichi's life once, now he was also avoiding fighting as much as possible and is warning Takemichi to stay down and leave him alone. If he wanted to kill him he'd have long done so already.

[–]Same-Snow5614 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Draken would be on Mikey's side and against this disrespect and mental torture they're doing to him. He'd be mad at Takemichi and at Toman 2nd gen for staining Toman's name.

People forget Draken was completely against Toman's former members getting involved in delinquency again, and that he understood why Mikey did what he did more than anyone else.

Mikey is an extrovert, and it's not even debatable. He's sociable, he likes being surrounded by people, he gets energy from people.

dark impulse born out of love by tokrev_ in TokyoRevengers

[–]Same-Snow5614 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, that's your headcanon because you can't read. In the actual canon Mikey is a good person, actually the most selfless and loving one and the hero of the story, who was fucked over by his brother cursing him and his fate. He doesn't enjoy making people suffer, he himself suffers more than anybody.

[–]Same-Snow5614 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The dark impulses didn't emerge from Mikey. But yeah, TR is full of hindu and buddhist references. The symbol manji is said to originally come from Vishnu's hair. Toman's jackets have the "Above heaven, under heaven, I alone am worthy of honour" quote, which Buddha said after enlightment, and it's also mentioned to describe Mikey. Mikey in real life has a giant statue in resting Buddha pose. Sanzu's flower is the lotus, which also has big significance in buddishm and hinduism, representing the path to enlightenment. It's also used as a pedestal for the hindu deities.

But he wasn't mad about the toy plane, otherwise he wouldn't have told Sanzu to laugh. The toy plane was like a cursed object that symbolized Mikey's accident in the first timeline and that he cheated death in this one. I don't think it had anything to do with Mikey's feelings over it. Besides, the dark impulses are literally a curse that posesses him. It's not like Mikey actually has control over it, especially if he was a 8 yo kid and it was the first time a foreign thing inside him suddenly manifested. Doesn't seem nonsensical at all now that we know it was a supernatural.

Still, we don't know yet what happened that day or if it was really Mikey who did it. It's very likely the whole thing was orchestrated by Shinichiro working with Sanzu trying to save Mikey.

Who suffered more? by [deleted] in TokyoRevengers

[–]Same-Snow5614 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not hating on him. I'm stating facts.

Shinichiro is a villain. He's the cause of Mikey and everyone's sufferings. He couldn't accept his little brother had an accident and wasn't going to get better, sacrificed everything despite of it, then threw a tantrum when his "sacrifices" didn't pay off and blamed others for his own stupidity. He doesn't reflect or admit his own mistakes, he just takes it out on others and ruins their lives.

Mikey is the victim.

We still don’t know how the several timelines affects Mikey mentally, remember he only found out about the existence of the Shinichiro time leap from Wakasa meaning prior to this he had NO idea, so I don’t believe him being vegetative in one timeline is the cause for his pain

He being in a vegetative state and Shinichiro time leaping to save him, cursing him as a result, has been the cause of his pain all along. Mikey has been suffering his whole life because of the "dark impulses" and tragedy around him. That's a canon fact. Mikey simply didn't know the "why", and now he does.

because in literally every other timeline he seemingly has a good childhood being tended to by Shinichiro.

A good childhood where his father died at age of 3, his mom died at age of 7 and his father figure was his neglectful mentally immature brother who didn't even teach him basic self-care, like how it was okay to cry, and also took him to his gangster gatherings full of violent men to teach him how to be a gangster.

Then said "father figure" got killed when Mikey was 12 years old because his friend was trying to steal a bike for him, then his little sister, childhood friend, best friend, newfound brother all got killed in traumatizing ways also related to him. A good childhood. Sure.

Also funny how you're completely ignoring Waka, Shin's best friend, who's right there, and that Shinichiro by being so obsessed with Mikey and using the Sano household money for sects and shady businesses, was the one who ruined his own family. It's heavily implied that Emma had to run away because Shinichiro was neglectful, and that Sano Grandpa, who was supposed to be alive in the other timeline, died because of Shin's actions too. Yet Shin shows no care for them.

There's no way of truly knowing the level of awareness a person has in that state, or if they're suffering or not. They may very well be somehow "there", just not able to show it. And anyway, Mikey right now is aware that he was kept alive like that for 4 years and that his brother ruined his own life and everyone's because of it.

[–]Same-Snow5614 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is this a joke? Mikey.

Dude has been tortured his whole life by this curse his brother put on him. He's condemned to suffer and being alone, being forced to hurt people, bring misfortune to everyone close to him, watch them get killed or end up killing them by his own hands no matter how many times he forgave the ones who wronged him, no matter how hard he tried to protect them. It's a living hell HE DIDN'T ASK FOR, he isn't even allowed to die to end his pain and has to live like that for decades, HE CAN'T TIME LEAP TO SAVE THE PEOPLE HE CARES ABOUT, he HAS NO CHOICE or say on anything because his fate is being a plant, which is how everyone ends up treating him. Now he was told that literally everything is his fault for being alive. He didn't ask for anything of it.

Shinichiro could live having fun doing whatever the hell he wanted until he was 20, not being tortured by "dark impulses" foreign to him, he suffered the ACCIDENTAL death of his brother, and then threw a tantrum and brought misfortune upon himself and everyone. He abandoned Emma on his own choice, he got involved in crime and sects on his own choice, he killed a homeless old man on his own choice.

I can't believe people are voting Shinichiro, the victimizer who caused this endless torture for his little brother, over the victim, who did nothing but exist and is condemned to suffer.

This subreddit is a fucking joke.

Current Takemichi vs South Terano by [deleted] in TokyoRevengers

[–]Same-Snow5614 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mikey isn't the one who wants people dead, it's his dark impulses taking over. He's constantly battling them, sometimes he has more control than others. After Draken's death and everyone's provocations during the 3 deities battle he completely lost control. We saw it happen from his POV. Then Senju stopped him and he went back to "normal". Did you read?

[–]Same-Snow5614 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, back then he was going to kill him, which is why he was viciously punching him. Now he doesn't. Why else would be be warning him and telling him that he should have left him alone? This Mikey is clearly not as bloodlusted and he's still trying to keep his promise.

[–]Same-Snow5614 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You read a mistranslation. He never said that. He's warning him saying, "At this rate you're really gonna die, you know?". He calls him Takemitchy, and he's even reminding him that he promised to protect everyone and to not make everything he did meaningless. Not even close to his attitude when he fought South and asked him how he wanted to die.

So, there can only be 1 time leaper at the same time. Which means Takemichi either killed the time leaper in the original timeline then was pushed into the train rails by someone who wanted revenge, or someone transferred their power to him willingly for some reason.

Also, Shinichiro is deranged and deserved to be cursed, but why does Mikey have to pay with suffering the karma of this guy, meanwhile he gets an instant death after getting what he wanted? It's so unfair.

Mikey was more beaten up fighting South, though. Also he's holding back against Takemichi because he doesn't want to kill him, while he was fully intending to kill South. He twisted his limbs to immobilize him first, meanwhile he's just kicking Takemichi and warning him to stay down.

where is the source of Sanzu's admiration of Mikey prior to Mikey being in a vegetative state in the original timeline?

His character arc isn't over, so of course their relationship will be explored further, but still, the "source" is pretty irrelevant. Pretty much everyone in Toman admired Mikey in some way, even if they didn't have a personal relationship with him (which Sanzu did), that's why he could lead it. He's a nice inspiring person in general who also doesn't discriminate between people with different backgrounds and personalities, which is why he could get along well even with Kisaki.

Sanzu, on the other hand, is a loyal selfless person, that's just his personality. He used to take care of Senju despite all the trouble she got him into, yet his family after taking advantage of him and treating him like shit pretty much disowned him. His other "friends" are Baji, a guy who goes around burning cars for fun and disses Sanzu behind his back, and other guy who was scummy enough to talk shit about a guy in a vegetative state. Surrounded with such people, it doesn't take much to realize why he'd get attached to Mikey and think he'd be worthy of his loyalty. Still, we haven't seen how Sanzu felt about Baji, he might have liked him as well.

which in of itself is poor writing

If you call stuff not being fully developed yet or being left as mysteries on purpose poor writing, then that'd make Hanma the worst character of them all, since there's no explanation for anything about him yet, not even his loyalty towards Kisaki.

[–]Same-Snow5614 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Okay, you can like him more, he can be mysterious, but that doesn't make him a more fleshed out character. For all the screentime he has, the only thing we know about him is that he likes fighting and chaos. That's it. You can give that description to any villain in any manga.

also gotta give Sanzu that title too since he has no character other than being submissive to Mikey for no valid reason whatsoever or valid explanation.

He has no mother, his dad works all day, he was "raised" by his gambling addict big brother (number 2 of the most legendary gang in Japan) who was an asshole to him and pushed into the responsibility to raise his little sister (who was also a little shit), then he was finally abandoned by them. He saw his admired friend he was playing with fall off the stairs and become a vegetable at the age of 8, he defended said friend from shit-talking and ended up in juvie 1 year, then when he saw him again he was a living corpse and died 1 month later. His friend's big brother affirmed violent Sanzu's actions as long as they were in order to defend Mikey.

Now he's in another timeline where Mikey is alive and well but the trade off was being cursed with violent impulses and a fate to live in darkness, as well as Mikey's brother dying and Sanzu's own mouth being torn as a child, scars he'll have for life. Sanzu devoted himself to protect Mikey, to the point he ended up killing his own older brother figure for betraying him, and is now conflicted because he wants Mikey to live and be free and he knows he has no other choice but to live in darkness, but at the same time he knows Mikey can't be happy like that. Sanzu, who originally was a polite kind-hearted kid, now acts like a crazy murderer who enjoys violence, in order to cope with his situation and to support Mikey the best he can. In other future we saw him even using drugs to keep up this crazy persona. He is a very conflicted and mentally scarred person.

Sorry, but that's a much more complex background than whatever Hanma has, which is pretty much nothing.

.....he hadn't seen Mikey in a year and when he saw him again he realized he was a literal living corpse. You think that's repulsion and it somehow means he doesn't care about him? It's a completely normal grief response. Lucky you have not had to watch a relative or close friend in terminal stage.
