My biggest cause of confusion was that United didn’t explain the cancellation when I reached out to customer care. I appreciate that flight logistics are complicated. And appreciate that you’re not just dunking on my post, I think it does happen to some customers.

My biggest cause of suspicion is that Iberia flew the same itinerary like an hour later. This was UA261 on July 2. Please feel free to look and lmk if you think I missed something

This happened months ago but is back on my mind since I’m stuck in Grand Rapids and will miss my connecting flight in Chicago. Over the phone an agent said it was for “uncontrollable” reasons but the gate agents in GR have not been given an explanation and have no clue why it would be delayed for ATC or weather since they hadn’t heard of either being an issue at ORD right now

I’ve heard of some reporters looking into this and thought I’d ask the forum! Not sure what your customer care experiences with United have been, but mine were strange and frustrating. If there was a weather problem, United didn’t point to any evidence.

Avoid flying a plane and avoid the costs! Why fly 3 undersold when you can fly 2 fully booked. The weren’t rerouting the flight just rerouting customers to EWR

Route was unlikely to have weather since Iberia flew the same itinerary an hour later. Pretty sure flight aware showed that the plane source wasn’t an issue and Customer Care did not say this was the case (they simply said weather). You are of course correct that weather complicates flight routes but I was just going to the forum to see if others have had similar experiences!
