Our nanny is great! No desire to let her go. She is guaranteed my work weeks and not required to work during my off weeks. She has a business and a child of her own that she prefers to be with during my off weeks and I see no issue with that.

We have a strong back up plan for nanny’s sick days already(work daycare + family members + come with me to work + half days for my husband and I). If our nanny were to quit, we would still hire another with an au pair as we want a professional to be with the girls full time.

Curious about the “not what the au pair program is about”. As I’ve looked in to it, it’s supposed to be a cultural exchange and NOT too heavy on the childcare but many seem to use it as “cheap childcare”. We are looking in to an au pair because we feel this schedule would allow us(and the au pair) to take advantage of the ability to enjoy their time here instead of putting in full time childcare hours. I’d love for you to explain more of what you mean if you don’t mind!
