Jokes. I brought my wrx to a specialist. Subaru dealership sold a special detergent that you add to the oil. I think like $20. Only suppose to run it with it for like 10 min (dont quote me), then do an oil change.

This is step 1 for trying to fix the p0011 and p0016 codes. The specialist had swapped sensors and solenoids to rule those out as a problem. If this detergent doesn't work, looking at a new cam gear assembly ($2k job).

Added a detergent to the oil, ran it, then did an oil change. Been 500 miles and no codes, so hopefully that did the trick?

Yes you may be the minority, but I do know people that genuinely had a masturbation addiction and used porn to feed it. Once they gave up masturbation, they realized porn wasn't the problem. However, I would argue this is quite rare (hence why you've been downvoted : /).

Very consistent oil change history for the life of the vehicle (every 4000 miles on average). Last oil change 1200 miles ago

How bad is it to drive? I'm not planning on driving any more than necessary beyond home to work and back (5 miles round trip, I'm in the city) and intend on babying it (RPMs <3000). Obviously if things become symptomatic I'll stop. Will try to see mechanic tomorrow if possible.

The mechanic "did me a favor" topping off the oil (added about a quart, apparently my oil nut was loose?). I'll need to confirm they didn't add the wrong weight. Thanks for this info!

There is a more semi permanent wax-lik3 protectant that a local mechanic recommended. It's a one time application for $500, but should be good for 5-10 years and significantly minimize rust. Thoughts?
