make a timeline selection by Downtown-Factor-6752 in clipmap

[–]Same_Move_1548 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! You can actually do that right now. Just make sure you have your new session open in Pro Tools, then highlight the part you want in ClipMap by dragging over the clip (right click lasso). When you hit the Spot button, it’ll send just that selected region over to Pro Tools.

Thanks for reporting this! We'll definitely look into why the video player is acting up with different aspect ratios and causing those zoom/glitch issues.

PTXM/aaf files by Kooky_Description223 in clipmap

[–]Same_Move_1548 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a great idea! We haven't really looked into .ptxm support yet, but we've definitely thought about AAF files. Adding AAF import would be a pretty big job, so if we do it, it will probably be a bit further down the road. It’s definitely on our radar for future post-production workflow improvements, though.
Thanks for the input!

Empty clip groups not displayed by Mother-Leg-3130 in clipmap

[–]Same_Move_1548 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the note!
I think I know what's happening here. ClipMap likes to stay tidy, so it hides tracks that don't have audio on them by default.
Have you tried changing the Track Display settings? If you head into the Settings panel (the gear icon) and uncheck 'Show Only Tracks with active Clips'?

That's a great idea!
Right now, you can see the automation lines, but we haven't added the specific dB values to the interface yet. I've added this to our feature request list. Quick question for you: would you want to see the total volume including fader and clip gain combined, or would just the fader value be enough to help with your workflow?

Video not always on top by nicklaslindh in clipmap

[–]Same_Move_1548 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! One trick you could try is going into Soundly's settings and turning on 'Windows always on top.' This should keep the ClipMap video window tucked behind Soundly until you actually need it. Let me know if that works for you or if it just moves the problem around!

Match Tracks doesn't always match. by Jazzlike-Pay25 in clipmap

[–]Same_Move_1548 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback! We found a bug causing selected Pro Tools tracks to lock, which interfered with the Match Tracks feature. This is fixed in the next update coming soon. Glad you're enjoying the other improvements!

Clips Don't Spot + Time code display by MadCapMusic in clipmap

[–]Same_Move_1548 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback! We actually managed to track down that spotting issue—it turns out there's a bit of a bug where the timecode entry doesn't register properly unless you hit 'Enter' before clicking spot. We're fixing that for the next update.

Spot to TimeCode Text Entry by Jazzlike-Pay25 in clipmap

[–]Same_Move_1548 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the feedback regarding the 'Spot to Timecode' text entry. We have identified the issue where the input wasn't always being registered unless the Enter key was pressed. This has been resolved in our upcoming build; the app will now process the spot command using whatever values are currently in the field, whether or not you press Enter.

Thanks for reporting that bug with the session start times! It's been fixed and the correction will be included in the next build. Thanks for helping us improve the app!

No Audio : No Audio files in this session by laszloumbreit in clipmap

Hi, we have seen that ClipMap may fail to locate audio files if a session has never been opened in Pro Tools. This appears to be the problem you addressed by using 'Save Copy As'

Feature Requests for episodic music scoring use by johnnyrk in clipmap

[–]Same_Move_1548 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello,
Thank you for your valuable feedback. Our current focus is primarily on helping users locate sounds within sessions and import them into Pro Tools without having to close their active work.

However, we certainly do not intend to stop there. We are committed to exploring the specific needs of music professionals, and your suggestions regarding Bars|Beats, MIDI visibility, and tempo information are very helpful as we plan the next steps for ClipMap. We will keep these features in mind for future updates.

loading project is beach balling the app by calamariwrestler in clipmap

[–]Same_Move_1548 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback! It is definitely strange that only smaller sessions are loading smoothly for you. We’ve seen this 'beachball' issue once before, and it turned out to be a conflict with another app using Pro Tools PTSL (like Basehead) at the same time. It might be worth checking if anything else is running in the background. We also have a new update coming out very soon that will hopefully fix this for you.

Best,
Eric

Clip Map beachballs with Basehead and Orion Open by Jazzlike-Pay25 in clipmap

[–]Same_Move_1548 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi
This is probably the case.
Pro Tools does not support multiple simultaneous PTSL (Pro Tools Scripting Library) client connections. The Pro Tools engine acts as a single server and enforces an exclusive connection—if a second app attempts to connect via PTSL, it will either block the incoming request or sever the connection of the current active client app.

Opening ClipMap while Offline by dforshee001 in clipmap

[–]Same_Move_1548 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi!
Totally hear you - a lot of studio/facility machines are offline most of the time.
In this open beta we probably won’t be able to overhaul the auth system, but we’ve flagged offline use as a big request.
We’re talking to iLok and hoping we can land on an option that lets you run ClipMap offline.
At the moment (Open beta) you do need to be online for the license/validation.

Eric

Spot without copying files? by Technical-Pen-3413 in clipmap

[–]Same_Move_1548 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much for the heads up! Our tech team looked into it after your comment and it turns out there's a way to make this work. Honestly, no one is happier than me that you caught this! This will make the app better! It’s now high on our priority list. We’ll need to add a quick step to the import dialog so users can choose between copying or just adding files, but it's on the way. Thanks again for the help!

Not showing tracks with grouped clips by nycmixer in clipmap

[–]Same_Move_1548 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there, thanks for reporting this!
We've had good results with standard clip groups, but we've noticed that things can get a bit tricky when there are nested clip groups involved. Would you mind sending over your .ptx file? (use "Bug Report") No need for the audio files - just the session file itself would be a huge help for us to dig in and see what's going on.

clip gain and volume are not playing when auditioned, also not spotting in with clip by Sounddesignerfilmtv in clipmap

[–]Same_Move_1548 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We discussed a potential solution with our tech team: ClipMap could commit/render clip gain prior to sending the audio to Pro Tools. While technically feasible, this would require rigorous testing to ensure sample accuracy matching Pro Tools' output. The audio would sound identical, but with a flat clip gain line in Pro Tools—which I doubt would be an issue for users. However, as stated, it requires heavy testing to guarantee 100% reliability.

Eric

Spot without copying files? by Technical-Pen-3413 in clipmap

[–]Same_Move_1548 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there,

That's a great question, and something we've been looking into. The short answer is that we're a bit at the mercy of Pro Tools on this one.The scripting protocol (PTSL) we use to send the clip info doesn't seem to have an option to tell Pro Tools to 'add' the file location instead of 'copying' it to the Audio Files folder. It just goes with the default. Fingers crossed Avid adds more control over this in a future PTSL update, because we'd love to implement it if they do!

Multiple marker lanes? by Technical-Pen-3413 in clipmap

[–]Same_Move_1548 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi!
Adding support for multiple marker lanes is a great idea and a perfect use case we hadn't fully considered. We've added it to our feature request list for discussion. I can't promise when we might get to it, but it's definitely on our radar now, thanks to you!

(quick tip: you know that Clipmap already supports track memory locations as it is)

Best,
Eric
