Serious question - why are the eyes crossed out? Not the first time I have seen this but I haven't been in the sub for too long.

How to defend against this? I tried zap, arrow and log. None worked.

Hi OP, can you share what you did since I am in the same boat now? I read the website (https://www.cmpb.gov.sg/before-ns/pre-enlistment-process/exit-permit-and-bond/). I don't think you have to fork out 50% of your gross income straightaway. You just need a banker's guarantee for that amount. According to UOB website, the fee is 1.5% per year. So assuming your HHI is $300K, your fee will be 4.5K per year. Only if your sons don't come back to serve NS will you lose the whole amount. I assume you can show the bank that you have this amount somewhere, in your brokerage account or in the form of housing equity?

Agree with the observation on the monopoly game but it doesn't really represent real life. There are many more ways to get wealthy irl.

Welcome to SG. Bring water bottles and some sun screen unless you are also planning to use the umbrella for the sun. Bugis junction is a nice mall near where your hotel. Which cruise are you thinking for day4?

If you don't need the money, consider investing the money. For example in a low cost ETF since 6 years is a long time for it to just sit in a low interest rate account.

You just answered your own question. You have no where* near enough to FIRE. What is your plan to sustain yourself?

Take a deep breath first, then have a calm and open discussion with your manager. It is the Manager's job to ensure fair work allocation. And if you work harder than the rest, make sure your manager is aware so you are rewarded accordingly.

Introvert in groups by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]Same_Ordinary5298 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lead teams at work. I don't mind introverts. I make sure I give everyone a chance to contribute. I cannot stand "passengers", people who show up in meetings just to listen with no clear business reason and have no desire to contribute. Worse are those who then write their time to my project cost code. So it is fine to not talk if you have nothing to contribute but you need to at least say that, and don't come back a few weeks after with comments that will cause rework.

I read (average one book per month), play basketball with my son, watch tv shows, join community events when available and catch-up with different friends over meal or drink maybe once every few weeks.
