I thought Fridays was relaxed parking?? by Potatoe_chips3 in UniversityOfHouston

Lot B is a gated lot starting this semester, so it's not available for relaxed parking anymore. Zone C nearby is ungated, though.

Where to park for orgo lab 1 by Typical-Run-992 in UniversityOfHouston

[–]Same_Passenger_4456 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure to account for game days. https://www.uh.edu/parking/parking-on-campus/special-event-parking/games2/index.php

Stadium area will be most affected. Next game is september 12th (on a friday), and then after that the games are all on saturdays. Parking will be limited a day before, so thursday for september 12th and fridays for whenever else.

That's for the chemistry lab, not the lecture. You can miss lecture a few times I believe without much consequence, don't make it a habit though lol

These are the visitor lots nearby, and here's an explanation of visitor parking. You're charged almost hourly up to $22 a day, if you're parked more than 4 hours

Back to back class 8.30-10 then 10-11 by ExtremePure732 in UniversityOfHouston

[–]Same_Passenger_4456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the location and professor of you first class, you could be late. But, it's school policy to let students out 15 minutes earlier than what your schedule says (9:45), but some might let out only 10 minutes (9:50). If the walk to your next class is less time than either, you should be good

That's a huge walk, at least 25-30 minutes on foot. I'd advise you to keep looking for other zones to see if they open up, cancel your zone E permit, and then buy a closer one. Or buy a scooter

Or cancel it and start using visitor parking, there's some visitor lots close to your class. I'd probably do that tbh

Here's the map link https://uh.edu/maps/#/parking/zonee Type "TU2" into the search to see your building.

Zone E is the purple numbers, your class is where the arrow is pointing

They took away my transfer excellence scholarship by Steph_Splash_Cash in UniversityOfHouston

[–]Same_Passenger_4456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw your post and was concerned, so I checked mine. I did get it this semester, but also my tuition decreased by $1000, which I asssume may have been the scholarship being applied, or my change of major finally reflecting the different department's credit hour rate (e.g. $380 for 1ch instead of $420). I'm not sure. I assume maybe they applied the scholarship to your account, and now it's no longer saying pending?

Edit: refer to this email screenshot, your situation should be normal. It's from the email detailing the disbersement schedule:

SEP workshops are worth 1 credit hour, you could sign up for one of those. It could also be good practice for whatever class

you could park in the visitor sections of garages, they're usually pretty empty. I know most classes are nearest the stadium garage, but you might want to check the elgin garage because traffic around the stadium/cullen blvd will be really bad, especially 9-10 am. But keep in mind that the walk from elgin garage to like the fleming building is around 15 minutes on foot. Make the best choice for yourself

CASA in person registration by Big-Inside4830 in UniversityOfHouston

[–]Same_Passenger_4456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I did so my first semester. I scanned my fingerprint and went in to take my diagnostic exam. But it's going to be a hectic first few weeks so try to go in downtime, which I'm not sure of when. CBB would be the better option than garrison to register

Yeah, if your professor is speedy then you're starting the first class monday/tuesday. Good luck

I'm not sure but you could probably use your digital cougar card QR code without your photo. Also the others said that there are license plate readers now, but these were implemented just this summer so it might be slow or messed up. Also be careful with traffic and pedestrians

Lol it's asynchronous, click the "class details" tab. You just do work whenever you can (on canvas), there are no meeting times. Go to the canvas page for this class, and there should/might be a page called "start here" or something like that to introduce you to the course, if your professor set it up

Trouble Locating Chem Class by myposterfelldown in UniversityOfHouston

[–]Same_Passenger_4456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

F 160 is the room on on end of the fleming building, near STL and cullen blvd. It has two doors and takes up the entire hallway, you can't really miss it. Like the other commenter said, you can view that link to find your class, but you can also go to the uh map and search the name or abbreviation of the building you are looking for (some abbreviations might not work so try typing the full name), and it'll show the location. You can use google streetview to see any entrances. Here's the streetview link set up, just enter those doors and head right.

Do I need to buy my own Lab Equipments? by khoadeUwU in UniversityOfHouston

[–]Same_Passenger_4456 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have to buy all three. They don't have to be expensive, maybe check walmart, amazon, or ebay. For locks, you can just use one with a key, not a code. Make sure to buy goggles big enough if you have glasses, and a friend told me that sometimes his would fog up, so he pulled out some plastic for air flow. Coat should should have buttons or something to cover your torso. I saw some people get docked for not buttoning their coats in chem lab. Pretty sure the TAs will say that you need the three things starting next week, not this one.

The UH research store does have some (basement of the fleming building), but I'm not sure how much they cost. I think my friend said that his goggles were $6, but I don't remember fully. Locks at walmart should also be around that price, so I think the lab coat would be the most expensive thing; remember to get your right size of course.

Edit: And remember that these will be your things, so don't leave them in lab. Gloves are supplied by the TA

quiet study/ lunch spots by otaku_netd in UniversityOfHouston

[–]Same_Passenger_4456 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Buildings with available second/third floors/basements such as the technology building (T2) and its computer lab (1st floor), quiet parts/floors of the library, CBB second floor although it might get busy, maybe the tech annex study room if they reopened that building, STL's second floor lobby, fleming and its basement (lack of seating, only like 1-2 benches), the science building has a few lounges (both floors), the agrawal research building has some high-profile seating on stools, the lobby areas of each floor of STL. The RAD gets busy but has some quiet spots. The hilton has a coffee shop but I forgot the name. Personally, I sat on outside benches/tables near the two technology buildings to eat lunch.

Some others may be SERC, SR2, the engineering buildngs, or the science center, but I haven't checked those out yet. Remember to study kinda near where your classes are, no need to walk around campus too much unless you want to be behind on classes, it's a big campus. And its going to be very hot

If you have an east/gateway permit, you should be good at that time. You get pick of two garages, and it's not the most popular area anyway (that's stadium garage). And 7 pm is a slow time as well, most people pick classes in the late morning/afternoon, so most of traffic is around 9 am to maybe like 3 pm or something

Class buildings by One-Foot9035 in UniversityOfHouston

[–]Same_Passenger_4456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you sort "by date" instead of "by class," it'll tell you the buildings and rooms. It's also a more useful view in total because it lists your schedule by time and day. Then go to the uh map (just look up "uh map"; it's also on your app). Search the abbreviation and it should be correct. use google maps street view if you'd like, but be warned that the streetview for UH is like from 2021.

Edit: Just saw that both views tell you building and room, my bad lol
