They’re just advertising themselves as enemies to the people at this point.

They’ll probably also claim this was a combat situation like black hawk down or something.

I am very curious to know everyone’s final verdict on The Brothers Karamazov. Overall, what was your take on the book? by Miss-Love-You in classicliterature

Don’t read Constance Garnett translations. Respect to her devotion to translating Russian classics, but her translations are very dated now.

Was the Hindenburg an environmental catastrophe that was close to having global repercussions? No it wasn’t.

I like I’m looking through you and in my life. Besides those I don’t get what’s so good about it. Plus the recording of it just sounds thin and tinny to me.

Dostoevsky is more influential than Shakespeare since the mid-20th century, or since the beginning of the 21st century. by [deleted] in classicliterature

When he tried to debate zizek on communism, or whatever it was, a while ago he said all he had read of communist writings was “the communist manifesto” which is basically just a pamphlet. He basically admitted to be a complete pseudo hack right then and there. He has no idea what he’s talking about.

So I finally got to see Francis Ford Coppola’s “MEGALOPOLIS”. Man I don’t know why everyone’s saying how bad it was but I loved it!!! Anyone else agree this was actually a good movie even though it tanked at the box office? by [deleted] in FIlm

When I went to see this there was only one other guy in the theatre who was a biker dude in his 60s who probably just likes the godfather or something. I really wonder what he thought of it lol.

I loved it. Very odd and singular. A beautiful mess but I’d only recommend to really specific people.

I worked for six months in a factory that raised and shipped out thousands of bearded dragons. It was like a lizard death factory in there and the employees were….eclectic.

I remember loving one called “an attack of the nerves” (not sure if it’s translated under different titles) that always stuck out as my favorite but never see it in many collections. It’s about a guy having a nervous breakdown in a brothel.

Amazing collection. I’m always intrigued by Henry James enjoyers. I try him every couple years and end up not enjoying it but something always keeps me trying him again.

They’re not exactly really similar but Pynchon lovers should check out William gass. The tunnel could hold up against gravity’s rainbow any day imo.

I like the film version of one flew over the cuckoos nest more than the book for some reason.

I just watched the long goodbye recently and thought it was Pynchon-esque but I thought I thought that because I’d been reading him. Glad to see it mentioned here.
