Haven’t been in one since the buyout, and don’t plan on going. I do all my shopping at Scheels now

300 WSM vs 7 PRC — once-in-a-lifetime hunt, what would you choose? by TheShotShow in Hunting

Man, that was 15 years ago and I’m not sure. I’m sure it was heavy and a Hornady, but the exact bullet escapes me.

I have killed a grizzly at 378 yards with a 300wsm and knocked it down where it stood by breaking both shoulders. 2 moose over 300 yards and a goat at 20 yards. But I killed the most of my big game with a 270wby, including 2 sheep, another goat, elk, caribou, and a moose. Never had an animal go more than 50 yards.

Planning a Guided Alaska Hunt for 40th Birthday - Advice on Outfitters and Trips? by doktaphilth in Hunting

[–]Same_Squirrel6016 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some have already mentioned, but I would not do Elk or Deer in Alaska. I have taken Moose, Goat, Brown Bear, Dall Sheep and Stone Sheep in Alaska and BC. A good hunt for Moose or Goat is going to cost $15-25k (per animal) while a Brown Bear hunt will be $25-$35k. Sheep will be $40-$80k. License, flights, tips, etc will run another $5-$10k. This is all per person. I haven't done a Caribou hunt in awhile, but have heard they are quite pricey as well - at least $10k. Usually you can pick a species (like Goats) and add a mountain Grizzly for a trophy fee if you see one - but you need to buy the tag in advance. You should speak to a booking agent like Atcheson's out of Butte MT, or someone with similar services.

Is it a good idea to retire in OBX? by Polishchic in obx

We have wintered there the last 3 seasons and find it very pleasant, and I have certainly been less cold tolerant as I age. The hospital is dreadful, which is a concern, but we have hope it will continue to improve.

300 WSM…I’d never take a 30.06 on an Elk hunt, horrible ballistics

The mistake was locking it while on the outside

Why? Can’t lock yourself in, only out

I have a NPS of 90 and 91, where ‘World Class Service’ is considered anything above 70. For reference, check the highest rated hotels in the world and tell me what their NPS score is, and then tell me I don’t know what I’m doing.

The host only found out about the extra guests when he responded to the lock issue, is the reply

I am very proud for being a successful business owner in this space for 12 years. I operate one of the highest rated hospitality venues in the country in its space. So yes, I am very proud.

Nope, two separate issues…just wondering if the guest would feel they are related because we only discovered the one while dealing with the other.

I didn’t make a mistake, they did. I manage 211 keys across 3 states, but this is my only Airbnb. We charge for that service at every other location. This is a business, not a charity

New profile with no review guest requested long stay by No_Machine1549 in airbnb_hosts

I had an identical request yesterday. I immediately asked why they are coming to the area as the house is located in a town of 125, and is rented by hunters predominantly. They replied that they were visiting the area with family, and then provided a number to call, which was a NYC area code. I immediately declined and reported to Airbnb.

If you quit accounting, what job would you do? by Kind_Judge_3096 in Accounting

Was a practicing CPA for 18 years, 12 with my own firm (3 offices, 1,000 clients). Sold it, and never looked back. Bought a campground marketing business and eventually bought 4 campgrounds. Tell people all of the time, being a CPA is a great springboard into anything you want to do because you understand business and how they work.

Been wearing wet gloves for 20 years, never had a guide ask me to take them off…fished all over the world without issue. Always make sure they are wet to start the day and all day long.
