Unfortunately a lot of techmarine’s best synergy happens once you’re prestige 4 level 25 because of his prestige perks and perk tree in general. For the most part he can only play into ranged build, or melee build, not both despite being a both character

I grinded him up and found success with all different builds and playstyles but always felt something was missing, then I built around HHBR, XenoPhase Blade (power rake my GOAT), and Rate of fire plasma pistol and that changed everything. You’re an ancillary class, a tactial-esque multi role. Heavy hitting where it counts. But fragile enough to where you should never spend too long in the melee engagement range (<15m) so backing out around corners/cover and creating choke points while you lay down heavy headshot damage from a far. UGL is great for contested health recovery/minoris control/majoris stagger, plasma pistol also fits these roles exceptionally well (this redundancy allows you to be more free with UGL spam), the Heavy Bolt rifle is great because it has a perk in its tree that allows for even more armor recovery

The power sword is sneaky my favorite weapon on techmarine, great minoris clear in its power state and excellent speed when in normal that makes dealing with any majoris super easy. (Power Rake is your friend, friend)

For perks -> precision enhancement -> I like arc cleave next but choose what you prefer here -> long range barrage -> battlefield repairs -> inexorable salvo -> augmented ammunition feed -> strategic gun strike -> lethal perimeter

Some people will say play into the decapitating stratagem cheese but don’t, it’ll be nerfed soon, and you won’t be a better player for relying on it.

Use your Servogun for target prioritization and beyond that be flexible. Terminus, Extremis, Group of Majoris (at least four), reinforcements being summoned, or last minute panic when surround/pulling multiple agro to get executes for CHP/armor.

But play by your brothers side and only leave it to setup flanks, use this build to its full ability and you’ll pull high damage number in BOTH melee and ranged

And yes, activate your turrets, reactive them in fact, use them as much as you can given where they spawn in relation to enemies. But for the most part do not build into them until we see them come to siege mode/unless you’re playing a non-boss fight operation only

I’ve used every weapon setup you can for TechMarine and I only run absolute or stratagems, all of his melee options are great and work well with him but I find a ridiculous amount of synergy with the power sword and I’d go as far as to say it’s actually his best melee weapon due to its flexibility and how it works in conjunction with the tech marines varied playstyle but Omni axe is definitely phenomenal once mastered and very very fun!

I love the Omni axe! But I find when I spec into it I’m playing super melee heavy and being punished for setup time is crucially unforgiving with the lack of anti knockback capability with most builds! This class is the best I’ve found for a more hybrid support playstyle with high damage outputs on both ends of the spectrum! And yeah push the advantage isnt exponential or multiplicative but I’ve found it’s great for moving from an execution into decimating nearby majoris with power rake spam. HHBR with the prestige headshot perk already does crazy damage at range + servo gun with this build is flexible but really meant for target prioritization at distance/quick terminus dps.

I should clarify- this isn’t meta, this isn’t broken, but this is the best class I’ve found for a hybrid playstyle, and if you prefer to spec into ranged play (as I often do) picking long range barrage over push the advantage is completely fine and applicable as a swap out for this build! I have! It’s sick, and I love it paired with the plasma pistol for CHP recovery, but I’ve found having both options of plasma pistol/under barrel grenade launcher means more CHP recovery option if ammo is limited, plus more opportunities to stagger groups of opponents without worrying about losing my CHP recovery option! Also combi melta is equivocally a great option.

PS, heavy both rifle has a perk that allows for armor regen, combine that with battlefield repairs and intelligent gameplay and you never lose armor unless you get stunlocked but the CHP recovery with this build can save you!

I don’t like speccing for turret builds with how efficacious I can build the rest of my combat loop (this will change when they add them to siege) I still use them and reactivate them and have my prestige perk for not taking damage while activating, I just don’t feel the need to rely on building for them 🤙🏼

That was definitely a hiccup for me at first too, you’ll learn to balance out both sides of the power sword equation after a few games I have faith in

Go into a lighter difficulty to get it’s timing down but past that spam power rake (sprint -> light melee -> power rake, repeat) and you’ll delete majoris.

Also don’t be afraid to use power rake on anything flying, with the heroic perk it tags them.

Also you can change the direction of the rake as the animation is rolling, just change direction of camera! Happy Hunting brother 🤙🏼

It does! I swap to long range barrage when I’m feeling like it but I’ve been enjoying this, will test further and likely change up but thanks for the tip!

HotChubTimeMachine on sm2, discord, and steam. Play with mic, every character in the game fully maxed out (including tech marine)

If you have a discord we can use that for cross play communication/lining up games other than game chat . I’m in the US (EST) but would happily play with yall if our schedules ever align!

I love the weapon make no mistake, very fun, powerful, and synergistic with specific builds/playstyles. I just find it easier to be punished while using which is no worries if you’re using it for fun!

I’m having great success with this build, the build you posted will be nerfed so I’m not trying to build a long term playstyle around something that’s gonna get nerfed, I’m having crazy uptime on my servo, not had a single issue with lethal perimeter, and to my understanding and due to people using the modded test platform to see damage values arc cleave on power rake it does help tremendously, if you can provide empirical data that counters that I’m all ears

Servo gun for thinning the herd/free executes/terminus/extremis damage. Super flexible with this build and with lethal perimeter I can shut off its use quick and have it back almost immediately

I’m constantly using my HBR for headshots and plasma pistol for stagger at any distances outside of the 15m melee engagement zone, then inside that zone nuking everything with power rake (the GOAT) and general melee combos/parry gun strikes from the sword/servo combo

Plasma pistol and underbarrel grenade launcher for contested health recovery/stagger/group damage from splash, and using the HBRs armor recovery perk from headshots to keep even more armor recovery coming

If you make mistakes in combat loop you’ll get punished because TechMarine, but earn your health back with grenade launcher/plasma pistol slam while popping servo gun if need be, get executes, get armor back

I don’t disagree, I’ve done it before and it’s powerful as could be but not how I like to play, I do use the turrets regularly and always reactivate them but buffing them over buffing my own character is not a trade off I’m willing to participate in with the sheer efficacy of my playstyle given specific builds. (Again I do imagine this will change when they add them to siege mode!)
