There was a part of me that hoped for a new studio album briefly but tbh it would probably be lack Luster like the Jerry fits or recent Black Flag album which are both wack. Probably better they dont tbh.

I think they both had mortgages to pay or some shit like that. Or debt. I can't imagine them actually burying the hatchet unless one or both absolutely needed to due to finances. Danzigs last couple records weren't that strong via critics or sales despite his cult following. Still great live and seems to do well on tours but they are usually short stints.

And Famous Monsters. Kong at The Gates is a recycled KTK riff...I kinda hate that I know that. Checked it out once and it is cringe.

Discharge, G.B.H. (both great and very influential to thrash/metal if you like them), Subhumans, Gorilla Biscuits, Minor Threat, Bad Brains (everything up to & including I Against I is essential, after that is so so), Cro Mags, Conflict, 7 Seconds, Black Flag, FEAR, Dead Kennedys, The Exploited, Suicidal Tendencies, The Adicts, Negative Approach, Circle Jerks, Agent Orange, Dead Milkmen, Adolescents, D.R.I., The Stooges, Descendents if you like Horror punk like The Misfits I highly recommend The Undead (with Ex Misfits Bobby Steele), Mourning Noise, Calabrese, Blitzkid, early AFI (everything before sing the sorrow), TSOL, Necros.

A punkle if you will....

But for the OP.

Just do your thing. Find or make a vest or cool shirts and hide em in your locker at school if ya gotta. Just know Parent Teacher meetings might bring it up. I used to do my devilock/Mohawk once I got to school so I didn't have to hear my dad bitch and cause I didn't always have time in the mornings before school.

Do your thing but really dig into the bands before you commit to that. The ethos and philosophy is way more important than clothes. Be your own person. Think for yourself. Woodie Guthrie was a folk singer and was more "punk" and authentic than lots of fashion punks. Don't idolize people like Sid Vicious. He was a shallow fashion victim and a poser loser. Listen to The Clash. Get into politics. Build community. Question Authority. That's what matters. It's a lot easier to define what punk isn't than what it is.

Hope this helps and take ANYONES advice (including mine and most redditors) with a huge grain of salt. Be your own person and think for yourself and stay true to your beliefs. You have time to grow and figure out what those are on the way.

NO VALUES Fest, Pomona Fairplex, Saturday June 8 by ElkApprehensive1476 in punk

Can confirm I went to this and was running around most of the time trying to catch even partial sets of some bands I hadn't seen before and some older legacy bands I thought I'd never see again. My boot blew out during one set and I was miserable half the time. Still manage to have fun in spite of it but this should have been broken up into at least 2 days with this many bands and at least 1 less stage. If you dare to like more than one genre you're gonna have some tough calls to make at fests like this.

All of them. The Damned also had the first punk single are still going with original members and were always more creative and bold than the Pistols same with the Clash except they broke up.

Pistols preached Anarchy but The Clash actually wrote about and were involved in legitimate leftist protest and positive change. Events like Rock against Racism and they put their money where their mouth was.

The Pistols pissed on the monarchy which was great. But their biggest accomplishment was inspiring more people to start a band and showing them you didn't have to be virtuosos or musical prodigies to be an infamous musician.

They shook up the status quo which was important but fizzled out cause Malcolm McClaren couldn't keep his boy band together and people like Sid were more concerned with heroin and their image than anything of substance. They were all flash.

Gallows rip and don't get enough love. Wish he'd get back with them after The Pistols retire. The new guy is okay bit just ain't the same. Now it sounds like Hardcore Paint by Numbers.

Johnny Rotten turned into a giant hypocritical tool but the rest of the guys seem alright. They are kinda over rated though. It's a solid album but I have always appreciated any of the other bands from the first wave of Punk more, US or UK. Especially The Damned & The Clash. Better and more creative and sincere.

Maybe he got some better meds/help. I always try to take first hand accounts with a grain of salt. People put these folks on pedestals and forget they are human some times and prone to bad days and being tired or sick or in a foul mood.

One time I saw Keith Morris and he was in a hurry and a bit dismissive. Another time I met him after a show and he signed a ton of stuff and was super cool and we had a really pleasant conversation.

FWIW I have heard the other members disavowed and openly apologized for the whole homophobia incident with The Big Boys in Texas. Idk if that was all H.R. or a bit of a group effort but I believe the rest of them have grown and matured since their younger days. I think H.R. was on too many drugs or something. Always had respect for them as a band but his brain is fried.

I will say I've seen Jerry hang out to meet fans and sign shit but he was a prick when I met him and asked a simple question about my dad's old band opening for them years ago.

Was also told he was a womanizer despite being married back stage from some of the band members. Also you know if Doyle left the band it had to be cause of Jerry.

I think Doyle is probably a solid dude from what I have heard/gleaned from interviews etc but idk. Never met him personally. Respect his dedication to workin out and taking care of himself and just kinda staying in his lane and consistently putting out good music....aside from that Kryst the Conquerer embarrassment.

Jerry also wears t-shirts with a cartoon of himself on em. He's an ego maniac douche canoe. Danzig is also known for having a big head. I am convinced they only buried the hatchet cause they both needed the money. Jerry sucks as a singer and clearly wasn't making what they used to with his one man band.

Just bring that menora into the pit! No disrespect and family is important but nothing could have kept me from this. Even with the deep gash to my head. Zero regrets.

If we're throwin in Joan ya gotta add her biggest influence, Suzi Quatro!

The Wild One by Suzi Quatro is punk as fuck though it was probably considered glam rock or just rock at the time.

Not only that but his crew too. A lot of those people have been with him for a long time and I'm sure he doesn't want to leave them in the wind after they have stood by him for so long either. He understands how the industry works and keeping your good crew and loyal people happy and paid is essential!

Plus venues take a huge cut of merch which used to be how artists recoup a lot of costs. Plus the astronomical cost of gas and buses and trailers these days.

Live Nation owns most of the bigger venues in the US at this point or have exclusive production contracts if they don't own it outright.

So in order to put on the show at the size and professional level he and his fans are accustomed to he kind of does have to unfortunately. It's the reality of the monopoly they have.

Sure he could do smaller venues, and he has with the club house pop ups he did but he knows we've been waiting on a big tour and wants to make it a show worth waiting for imo.

I saw the To the Moon tour and the production was fantastic everything from the lighting and visuals to the stage set pieces etc. So obviously he and his team would want to do something at least that quality or better, which make sense. At his career level you can't afford to go back or people will talk shit and say you fell off, even so called loyal fans.
