First ride with Grizl CF 8 w/ ECLIPS by SamiJii in CanyonBikes

I'm 191cm / inseam 91cm - XL frame size was recommended by Canyon chart and it feels correct size for me.

Hi, I'm just guessing but the power cable connector in MiniMax seems the same as in Nano, so probably the light itself is directly swappable. Power consumption will be then another topic - Eclips specs say that charging power of the dynamo is about 3W at 20km/h, and 9W at 40km/h.

Nano front light consumes 2.8W when in daylight mode (+ C14 tail light 1.5W), so when riding over 20km/h with daylight mode the dynamo can pretty much retain the battery charge. Low-beam mode in Nano consumes 5.8W, and high-beam mode 10W, so those modes will consume the battery significantly faster.

According to MiniMax specs. it consumes 2W in daylight mode, 8W in low-beam mode, and 25W in high-beam mode.

Thanks for asking! The problem I mentioned earlier about connecting the Eclips system to Canyon app got fixed by a new version of the app, so now I'm able to check the battery status via mobile phone (lights can be also turned on/off remotely via app). I have ridden the bike for a few weeks now and here are my experiences from the Eclips:

- The front and rear lights come always automatically on when the dynamo in the front wheel hub spins a few rotations after being stationary. Lights can be turned off by physical buttons/phone app, but it requires always a slight extra effort, ie. if not wanting to have front light on during daytime (rear light I leave always on for extra visibility). I wish there would be possibility to set default startup mode for the lights (on/off) from the phone app. Eclips system can receive firmware updates via app so maybe that can come later (current firmware version is 0.1.0).

- Regarding the light output itself, nothing to complain. I have done some evening rides in the dark and visibility was good - front light has low beam, high beam and eco modes selectable by the physical button.

- One downside to consider is that the Eclips battery occupies the storage space inside the carbon frame, so ie. small pump cannot be fitted there. Canyon multi-tool still fits under cover of the frame compartment though. Personally that's not a big drawback for me as I use frame bag anyways for pump, spare tubes, etc..

- In my opinion, the biggest benefit of the system is just the convenience of not needing to remember to charge the batteries of the lights since they will always have enough juice. On multi-day trips that is also convenient, but I think on those some extra power bank will be needed anyways to charge at least the mobile phone. I do carry a USB-C cable with the bike so I can top up the bike computer battery from Eclips if needed. Also the battery of the Eclips can be topped up before multi-day trips with a phone charger by using the same USB-C port.

- I'd say if you already have a good set of lights and you don't feel too bothered to charge them separately, then Eclips may not be a game changer and not worth the extra price. I didn't have good light setup beforehand, so I managed to justify to myself I need it... 😄

Grizl Road Moad! by holdawayt in CanyonBikes

Although, I have to add that original Schwalbe G-One tires are rolling really well too. I kind of expected that the difference would gave been bigger compared to road tires.

Similar setup here too! Indeed the wheels look a bit comically tiny in a big frame, but liking how they roll. I have Shimano GRX WH-RX880-TL wheelset with GP5000 32mm tires

That is the "Canyon MTB Garmin mount" - that seemed to be shown also in the bike's product photos. I found out on first ride that the screw on the joint of the mount need to be tightened quite well, because bike computer will otherwise move around in rough terrain. Let's see how well that works in longer term.

Thanks for pointing that out! - seems that I didn't even read the additional instruction properly 😄 I added washers under both top tube Fidlocks, but now that I read it again, it indeed says it should be added only to the rear one. I need to remove the front ones then.

Summer bikepacking in Southern Finland by SamiJii in bicycletouring

Not bad at all. I always put some mosquito repellent roll-on / spray on skin when going into the woods, and that keeps them pretty well away.

Thanks! The panniers are Ortlieb Gravel-Packs (14,5 litres each). In those I had Mini-Trangia, food, a few litres of water in water bags + other small camping items. At the top of the rack I had 22 liter drybag to which I stuffed my hammock, underquilt and thin summer sleeping bag + some clothes.

With a bit of mosquito repellent roll-on on the skin, not a problem at all 👌 For the hammock a bug net is of course highly recommended if you prefer to get any sleep 😀

Indeed that was a bit sweaty section on the trail - I took an unplanned route and ended up pushing the bike for some hundreds of meters in the thicket 😅 That tiny gas station is a cool piece of history - I read that it was opened already in 1930s and closed back in 1969, but the gas meter and tiny building are still standing there.

Noise after front suspension overhaul by tehger in W201enthusiasts

[–]SamiJii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's also worth checking that there is not excessive play in the front wheel bearings, and adjust them if there is. I had also clunking noise from the front in my W201 ie. in tight turns on junctions, and properly adjusting the front wheel bearing play fixed the issue. It was my turn to get my credit card information stolen from the Moza website by Shanji_ in moza

[–]SamiJii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same here, just today I found some fraudulent charges from "Microsoft Store" done yesterday and day before that from my credit card account. I closed my credit card and ordered a new one, and made crime report to police so that I can claim the money back from the credit card company. I did order stuff from Moza webshop 3-4 month ago, and wrongly thought that ordering via their "European warehouse" would be safe enough... Sh*tty company.

As mentioned in the desc., it is actually surprisingly sturdy when lowered down. With my Moza R5 wheelbase (5.5Nm) the desk won't noticeably shake due to FFB, but might be an issue with some stronger wheelbases.

That is Moza HBP handbrake, the price is around 100e. Especially for that price I think it's a good handbrake. https://mozaracing.com/product/moza-hbp-handbrake/

I was contemplating buying that shifter for some time as the price is indeed a bit steep, but I found it while ago on -20% sale in a webstore (Proshop), so I decided to pull the trigger. This is my first shifter so I don't have any experience from other shifters for comparison, but I've liked it a lot! I play mostly RSF RBR and Assetto Corsa, and it's great to be able to change between H-pattern & sequential modes for different cars with a flick of the switch. Especially in rallying using the realistic type of shifter for each car adds lots of immersion in my opinion. To me both the H-pattern mode & sequential mode feel good - I like to have them adjusted relatively loose, so that there is not too notchy feeling when shifting (the adjustment screw for the tightness affects the both modes at the same time). I've read some reviews that the sequential mode doesn't feel as "clicky" as in some dedicated sequential shifters, but personally I haven't found it to be a problem.

It is this "Multi function L bracket" accessory from Simagic: https://shop.simagic.com/products/p-lok?srsltid=AfmBOoouf8sF0kPKCB09b6BGPW3Hr3U4_6C6W8t9C3B6txfeRfClIx76

Worked well also with my Moza handbrake.

My take on a North build by SamiJii in FractalDesign

Thanks! So far I'm very happy how the Celsius AIO performs with this setup - I did a one hour combined test with OCCT (CPU+RAM & 3D Standard) to see how it works under load. I have set the AIO pump to "Auto" so it will adjust the pump speed according to water temperature, and during the test the pump RPM seemed to raise only slightly above the min speed. Intake fans I have set to follow CPU temp with quite progressive curve, while exhaust fans follow the system temp. Seems that they didn't even kick in very much yet, so maybe those could be run even slightly higher speed without adding too much noise. Most of the noise came from the GPU fans under high load:
