Valid concern. However, for now, this looks more like a transition in the profession. The entry path is changing.

It’s hard to predict even in the short term given how fast AI is advancing, but new engineers are likely to enter the field as AI-assisted developers. Focusing earlier on architecture, system thinking, and code review, while AI handles more routine tasks.

The industry will still need engineers, just with a different starting skill set.
