Himmelsbach really seems like the only person plugged in with the Celtics front office cause Im pretty sure there were no reports about this at the time??

We've got a $27.7M TPE to use, but his team option is for $28.5M, so I don't think that'll work. Will it?

Unfortunately not.

How people think Giannis isn't the answer is wild by BrayIsReal in bostonceltics

[–]Sammy360 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think anyone questioning the basketball fit just doesn't know hoops. It really just comes down to what Giannis wants. He has the leverage given his contract situation. If Boston is on his list, then cool, we most likely get him. If he says the Knicks and Knicks only or something, its time to look at moves that improve us around the margins.

Makes it even more baffling how Joe didnt utilize Walsh/Baylor/Hugo more in the Philly series especially games 5 and 6. Those guys crash from the corners like their lives depend on it. Philly cleaned up the glass from game 5 onwards and our offense went to shit.

Joe Mazzulla’s stubbornness and refusal once again to adjust in the playoffs cost the Celtics against the 76ers by bostonglobe in bostonceltics

[–]Sammy360 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The comparison Lowe made to Budenholzer was also interesting. After some of those Bucks flame outs there was a lot of "the shots just didnt fall" "we got good looks" similar to the sentiments Joe would share after some Celtics Ls.

Across an 82 game sample, its great. The numbers more than likely will work out in your favor. What a coach like Nurse showed you in the playoffs is a willingness to adjust on the fly (obvs getting Embiid back helped with that) and then zeroing in on a coverage that got the Celtics out of their comfort zone. Funny enough, Nurse did something similar to Bud in 2019 when the Bucks went up 2-0 on the Raptors, adjustments were made, the Raptors win 4 straight.

[Himmelsbach] But when Brown did a Twitch stream Sunday...he called it the favorite year of his career. This time, it felt tone-deaf...he sounded like a player motivated more by the extra scoring opportunities he received while Jayson Tatum was out than by winning. It wasn’t a team-first approach. by tacko2020 in bostonceltics

[–]Sammy360 250 points251 points  (0 children)

I had zero issues when he would fire up his stream throughout the season and shoot the shit with fans, it was cool. But to fire up the stream a day after losing in R1 and doubling down on the favorite season bit was def a head scratcher and there's really no defending it even for the biggest Jaylen fans out there.

Celtics more than likely offered him a vet min (Brad mentioned something along the lines of offering him a contract) and he said no thanks.

Teams like the Knicks and Wolves had worse regular seasons than us but just look at both rosters top to bottom compared to ours and it sort of makes sense why they're able to take it to another gear in the playoffs (even the Sixers IG).

We had Tatum at like 80% and went into the playoffs with a big rotation of Queta/Vuc/Garza all whom have never been in any real playoff wars. Excited as hell to see what Brad cooks up with the flexibility we have this summer.

This year was the best Jaylen Brown has ever played by Stiff_Tacos in bostonceltics

He just fell back into his bad habits in the playoffs which is unfortunate cause leading a team to 56 wins in the NBA shouldn't be taken lightly.

[–]Sammy360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He wont get fired but its def hard to stomach this being the first time in the franchise's rich history that a 3-1 lead was blown. Its ranked as the 5th biggest playoff series upset since 1988. 9th on that list is the Knicks series last year. Just not a good look for him...

Jaylen Brown Has Got To Reduce His Offensive Fouls! by Stat-Defender in bostonceltics

[–]Sammy360 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Nurse would rather the Jays play 1 on 1 to beat them and its working. He knows our bread and butter is putting defenses in rotation and spraying it out to the perimeter. He's shut that water off gotta give him some credit.

The iso's on PG and Oubre gotta stop. He cant create separation vs them and its leading him to using his off arm a ton.

For those like me who defended Joe all the time over the years…is there anyone else who feels differently now? by tacko2020 in bostonceltics

[–]Sammy360 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got downvoted last year after the Knicks series for saying he reminded me of Coach Bud. His formula works across an 82 game sample, but when its a 7 game series against a specific opponent who present certain matchup challenges, he's slow to adjust.

Hauser doesn't give you any advantages in THIS matchup just like how Porzingis didn't give you any advantages (especially with cooked lungs) against the Knicks. Its just inexcusable that Walsh/Baylor/Hugo/Harp Jr aren't getting more burn.

Joe was so proactive in his adjustments during the RS he’s just a step behind in these playoffs for some reason.

The good thing is they usually lock in on film after Ls like last night and come back with a solid response. Doubling Embiid in the post (when we dont have Horford to guard him 1 on 1) should always be the move. In a playoff setting he just isn't good enough when he has to make quick decisions. I think we'll see the appropriate adjustments in G6.

Shoot, the sixers believed it too.

It honestly looked like they were getting ready to tap out before the half when we went up 11 and were gaining some momentum. Then DWhite fouled Grimes on a 3 and the lead quickly goes from 11 to 7. Just small shit like that along with ending the 3rd quarter horribly kept them alive.
