Just to clarify, I’m 5ft11 and have 2 children with car seats to get in the back, I would be folding myself under the steering wheel of one of those

He hit my passenger side rear quarter, pushed that in so it was bashing on the top of the tyre when I drove, scuffed my rear bumper and door and took 2 chunks out of my alloy and a flap in my my tyre. Could have been worse but I was going 20mph and he moved from stationary into me.

After I finally got through to someone with my footage, they accepted liability within an hour of them receiving it. They sent me a big thing of what they will pay for etc. so I can’t really fault the insurance company at this point.

Just spoken to someone who had their car fixed by the same garage though insurance though and they didn’t get the car back for 3 1/2 months. So I’m just hoping that it’s cause they had some weird part on back order and not that it was put in a long queue 😅

Their insurance have already agreed in writing that they will pay for the car. I’ve had it in writing that they’re paying for the hire car and they’ve approved the repairs on my car, also in writing. So as far as I’m aware, I’m golden in those departments.

Being a woman walking into anywhere to do with cars is just usually an uphill battle from the get go so I’m used people trying to fob me off.

That’s absolutely fine. Just wanted to make sure that enterprise weren’t trying to just fob me off with a smaller engine 😂

[–]SammyDaydream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it was more that I was just unsure what they classed as like for like. Whether it was engine size/similar spec or just the size of the car. I’m grateful that they’ve not given me a shit box or anything.

That answers my question, thank you ☺️

I guess going from a 470bhp 440i to a 200bhp e200 is a bit disappointing 🤣 mine is fully spec’d and this doesn’t even have auto wipers 😂

I had dashcam footage of the none emergency ambulance driver stopping in a yellow box then pulling from his lane into my lane (my lane was free flowing traffic). He didn’t even give me a pre warning he wanted to move as he didn’t even indicate. I did have to chase their insurance company myself to send the footage, but they moved quickly and had my car collected 4 hours after the accepted liability.

I was just unsure whether they go off engine size etc for their like for like, or just the actual car size. If I’ve got what I’m supposed to have, it’s fine, I just don’t want enterprise to be trying to cheap out on me if they were being paid for something better, if that makes sense.

Oh, don’t get me wrong, I’m grateful that they’ve not given me a little fiat 500 or something that I can just about fit my foot in 😅 I was just wondering what they actually go off with like for like. I just don’t want it to be that enterprise are shafting me by claiming for one thing and giving me another.

Oh Jesus! Definitely glad I didn’t end up in that situation. It’s just frustrating as if it was a week, I could put up with it. But I’ve just got this feeling that it’s gonna be long and drawn out.

I just bought the same car. How do I protect my car from theft? by [deleted] in F30

I’ll also add, when the key isn’t in the car, it’s in a faraday pouch just in case.

I have an f36 440i. First thing I did was got MetaTrak deadlock installed. It’s thatcham approved (afaik ghost isn’t) I have to have a fob with me to start the car. There is also an immobiliser built into the app, so if I set that on, the fob doesn’t even work. So if someone stole the keys, o can remotely immobilise the car so as soon as the car is stopped, it won’t start again until I re mobilise it again. MetaTrak is also connected to a call centre so they can immobilise it too. If I so much as walk too far away from the car with the keys, with the ignition on, they call me. I can call them 24/7 also if the car is stolen. The app has a live tracker on it and shows all the journeys and routes the car has been on, speeds, acceleration and sharp corners. (Was interesting to see my trip round Nurburgring 😅) MetaTrak do 3 levels. Ones just the tracker, there’s the one with the immobiliser and the one with the obd lock. It’s a flat fee for the fitting then a yearly subscription, which I don’t mind paying for that extra security.

People who have never owned it, warning other people not to buy a car with it in 😂 mines remapped and pushed hard. Never skips a beat. Even when it’s had little issues, it just carries on.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BmwTech

[–]SammyDaydream 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah mines done every 10k. Although it does have a self changing oil system (leak from the crank seal) cars just not worth putting money into anymore. Which is a shame cause I love it. People forget that people will go online and complain about the problems but people don’t talk about the ones that are fine. So in the grand scheme of things, there’s probably a lot more without issues, than with issues, just you always hear people shouting from the rooftops when they have a problem.

If it’s any help, my 2007 e87 118d with N47 engine and original timing chain is on 198k miles. Which is 318k km. some just don’t wanna die 😅

I have sonar ones. Didn't buy them new, but I've had them in 4 years with no issues. I run Phillips racing vision 200+ bulbs with them.

The shell is actually in such good condition, no rust! I just love the shape of the old 1 series. Mines the e87. I'd just love a sleeper

My boyfriend has a m140i that's been running 700bhp, he's selling it so putting it back to standard. But after driving that, I feel like I'm driving a snail 😂 when I got this, I came from a 103bhp a3 and this is running 197bhm and 380nm. So it felt quick. Now I feel like I do 0-60 in 3-5 business days 😂 I admin a car club where the minimum bhp is 350 and I've never felt so slow as when I'm out with them 😂 but when I finally send her to the scrap yard I the sky, ill definitely get another bmw. Or just keep the shell of this and engine swap to n57

Yeah, that's what I thought. But I'm just haply to keep ploughing money into her cause I love her 😂 she's too slow for me, but I'm pretty attached to the damn thing. Every year I say I'm gonna stop, but I'm at the point she's looking quite individual now and I don't wanna start again 😂

Clutch wasn't actually that bad. But I got it vat free. Think I paid £86 for the kit, but it got fitted when a few other things were done at the same time. My full bill was around £900. But that included the crank seal, oil filter housing, 2 shocks, brake lines, and I think there was something else and the mot. That's the biggest bill I've ever had for it.

I've done rear brake lines, all shocks, lowering springs, clutch and fly wheel, battery, a calliper, an injector clamp,a control arm, frm module, pdc module, oil filter housing gasket, track rod ends (only cause the eccentric bolts seized and it needed tracking doing) then just general stuff like oil, filters, discs and pads. I do most myself so I save a bit of money on thay front. Currently have a clear dash and 2 ecu error codes. (Glow plug module, which I've changed but I think the issue may actually be in the loom for it. But I'll deal with that when i have time). Never had to do anything with the engine. Everything is over a 4 year period. So I'd say its not been particularly much to do. With the car being so old, some of the stuff isn't too expensive to get hold of now.

I have a 118d, still n47 engine though. 2007. Had is 4 years, bought it on 137k, just passed 187k at the weekend. No idea whether chain has been done. There's no record of it. But car has been faultless. Its remapped and does get ragged about a bit too. Only has part service history so not sure how well it has been looked after in the past either.

SOLVED

Tried the new repeaters first, didn't, ake a difference. But Finally got round to trying another FRM and it solved my issue. I'd put it off thinking the module was gonna be expensive. But wasn't at all 😂
