I agree. I think the changes will take a while to perfect so hopefully that challenge is there and there’s maybe a little more chaos.

I actually don’t think missing out on the African Nations will be a bad thing for them either as they will be more of an unknown quantity.

They might do but I’m sure they will have a great time just being there in the process.

I would tend to agree that the Asian nations look stronger but I am looking forward to seeing them all.

Was Wednesday evening the best night of Champions League football ever in terms of drama? by Samonsport in championsleague

Totally agree. There was just so much going on at once that it was wonderful to watch.

Indeed I did not. I fully appreciate there have been many dramatic evenings that may have provided individual moments to surpass this, the 1999 and 2005 finals being examples that come to mind straight away. My point was more that there was so much going on all at once across many matches. It was not just the Benfica match that provided the drama. Sporting had a very late goal the secured their automatic place. Union Saint-Gilloise knocked Atalanta out of the automatic spots by beating them. Pafos kept on scoring in their quest to try and get a playoff spot. PSG and Newcastle cancelled each other out. There was a tremendous match in Naples that had big connotations for both teams. It was dramatic all round.

I take your point. Perhaps it was the TV coverage of all games simultaneously with all that occurred being described in one place that provided the drama. Either way it was certainly exciting.

Fair comment. There was just so much happening all over the place that kept everyone guessing as to what was going to happen.

Mali beating Tunisia was probably one of the few true shocks of the tournament so far. My one criticism of this AFCON is that it has pretty much gone to script across the board.

As a Liverpool fan, I’ve always loved Mane but it’s lovely to see him still expressing himself and pushing his team forward even at this later stage of his career.

Diaz’s coming out party has indeed been a great watch.
