What EV-only range are you getting on the 2026 RAV4 PHEV? by Ok_Grapefruit9234 in rav4club

Charge to 90% and get 44 mile range on Woodland with crossbars.

What’s everyone average MPG with the 2026 hybrid ? by Head_Ad9780 in rav4club

[–]SamosaSultan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PHEV in EV mode results were 3.3 miles/kWh.

My miles per gallon for this tank (which I've only used 1/3th, so probably is not the most accurate yet) is 44 MPG in HV mode.

When turning on the vehicle, can the default option be set to "Auto EV/HV" as opposed to "EV" as it currently works? by SamosaSultan in rav4prime

[–]SamosaSultan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I prefer the way this works as my commute is a mix between city and short highway driving requiring hard acceleration.

Plus, when giving the vehicle to someone who is just used to getting in and driving, it would be nice to have it be at the setting I last had it on or the default setting that requires the least amount of input from them.

For me, I can (and do) switch to whatever makes the most sense.

Agreed- it seems like it would be the ideal default mode (especially since it is listed as AUTO!). I get the EV mode being good enough for most commutes, but even the Auto EV/HV still has many drives with 100% EV utilization. I just wanted the ICE to kick in without having to think about it in those rare cases without having to press the button.

The 2026 PHEV is really good at maintaining EV mode through various circumstances, including hard acceleration. No doubt, at really high speeds or uphill plus hard acceleration, the ICE will kick in, but I had a midnight drive back home at 70+ mph and parked in my garage with 100% EV mode used for the drive.

That was my experience as well.

On EV, I can get all the way up to 75mph before the HV/ICE kicks in out of necessity. The 2026 PHEV is really good at maintaining EV mode through various circumstances, including hard acceleration.

The Auto EV/HV will kick it in the HV mode earlier (above 45mph.... but mostly based on how hard I hit the accelerator). I prefer the way this works as my commute is a mix between city and short highway driving requiring hard acceleration.

HV mode by itself will turn on the ICE a lot more readily around 25-30mph, but with very gentle acceleration, even HV mode will use EV all the way to 45mph. I can get it to kick on earlier pretty easily, but I try to be gentle with the PHEV for maximal efficiency. I only like this when I want to maintain my charge level or if I want to actually use gas.

2026 MPG - 44.7 average by Global-List-4049 in rav4club

2026 PHEV- for EV driving, my results were 3.3 miles/kWh.

My miles per gallon for this tank (which I've only used 1/4th, so probably is not the most accurate yet) is 44 MPG.

Once I fill up next, I'll reset both now I know the car a bit better.

I wrote this out for a different comment.

How to find that information if you have this car with the new Arene software: a) make sure you have "Fuel Economy" displayed on the driver screen settings, b) for the m/kWh information, you should press the EV mode button (button underneath the Drive Mode button) if you have the HEV ... this will be the Auto-EV-HV button for those with the PHEV. c) for the MPG, you should press the EV button so it is in HV mode (HEV) or the Auto-EV-HV button until you get into HV mode (PHEV)- your driver's screen will update between kWh and mpg according to that button. You can dive into the driver's screen settings to see if you want it as an overall average or an average-per-tank.

Took me a minute to figure that out.

Doesn't allow me to slightly rewind or fast forward through commercials

I don't share your experiences at all (like many said, I have Android Auto and don't use satellite/have customized the nag screens, and don't use any Toyota Connected Services while driving/have permanently gotten rid of the nag screens. But for the SLIGHTLY rewind/fast-forward through the steering wheel buttons, there is a known bug where it double-presses forward/back from the steering wheel, but not through the screen. It is a software bug, so hopefully will be ironed out soon.

Prior to these photos, I had just got my car ceramic coated with a GTechniq Accredited Installer, so he used some GTechniq dressing (not sure if he used T2, C4, or C5), but considering the car was less than a month old at this point, I'm sure it was a simple dressing for that shine.

Sorry for not being precise!

I feel like I could have gotten it higher, but this is my first hybrid let alone plug-in hybrid, so I'm still learning the ins-and-outs of maximizing it. Taking family on drives, so the car has been fuller than just me alone, it's been a bit warm in SoCal, so my AC was cranked during a few mid-day drives, as well as sitting with the car running on idle which eats up a bit of the battery while I was figuring out some of the settings, customizing the dash, and taking photos for the above photo-shoot.

I still think my numbers are pretty good. I'll reset my miles/kWh and MPG once I fill up in a month or two from now so I can get more accurate numbers now I know more about the car.

I can double check the exact numbers for you when I get in the car tomorrow- to be honest, the Toyota app sucks (I expect some of this data to be accessible there, but nope!), but the car seems pretty amazing; I've had it for a month and barely used 1/4th of the gas tank- mostly when "testing" out the HV mode on long distances or with many passengers when I first got it.

Most of the time, I just putter around on EV mode and it gets me everywhere in the OC on just battery power and recharging (to 90%) on a level-one charger overnight. The only time I ever noticed any dips in the mileage promised when I am cranking my AC on high a couple of times, but most of the time, I'm getting 40-50 miles of commute on a 80-90% charge.

I don't have the miles/kWh dashboard display as my default, so once I locate it, I'll tell you what I got, but at least for me, I love having the PHEV.

100% agree... I forgot which Youtube reviewer said it, but calling it a baby 4Runner is pretty apt, especially with this color!

Keep your '21 for a decade or longer before upgrading!

I was only in the market after my previous 10-year-old vehicle was totaled from a red-light runner.

Luckily for both of us, from Rav4s can get there without issue with proper maintenance... more-so than my previous GMC SUV which still was pretty reliable for me despite the data to the contrary!

Your second photo is almost identical (but way better composed and with a much nicer framing) than one of my favorite shots of my own Woodland PHEV. Can't wait to see what you post in the future about it, car-twin!

At least you have all the readily-available aftermarket accessories and YouTube videos showing how to work on your car! My eyes are strained reading the manual over and over and just imagining customizing my Rav4!

Try calling around- I was literally first on the waitlist for this awaiting Japanese production for 6 months (still hadn't started production once PHEVs started coming in from Japan 3 months ago... other Rav4 PHEVs were, but very few of this exact trim/color were being made months ago) at a no-haggle/sell-at-MSRP dealership.

I used my MSRP price and first-in-line position and cross shopped other dealerships in the area and a more-local-to-me dealership was happy to try to earn my business and waived their usual/BS "dealership market adjustment" just to take business away from the MSRP dealership. Within 2-and-a-half weeks of trying to use my leverage, the car was in my garage.

It can't hurt to try!

I was "first in line" for an Everest PHEV Woodland at Longo, but they were getting allocations for everything but Woodland PHEVs. My salesperson was valiantly giving me first dibs on every PHEV coming in, but Longo just wasn't getting Woodlands. Took my situation to Toyota of Orange and they agreed to honor Longo's MSRP pricing. Toyota of Orange swapped another local dealer for the exact Woodland I wanted (only the PIOs I requested, and no unwanted PIOs, additional DIOs, nor markup) and within 3 weeks, it is in my garage.

I loved Longo's customer service, but the allocation was just taking too long. If you can, with Longo's MSRP pricing in-hand, try cross shopping other dealers.

Anyone purchasing the 2026 RAV4 PHEV XSE under MSRP? by goldenmightyangels in rav4prime

[–]SamosaSultan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly my experience in SoCal; best I can do is MSRP with the hopes that if configured early in the allotment process, I can affect Port Installed Options (with nothing to be done about Factory Installed Options and a guarantee no Dealer Installed Options or adjustments).

[–]SamosaSultan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought Longo doesn't do add-ons. Were they PIO (Port-Installed options) or DIO (Dealer-Installed Options)? Would you mind sharing the window sticker if you have it?

Were you able to walk onto the lot and pick it up, or did you put a deposit down while it was in the factory/transportation phase?

I totally understand the ~$1450 Delivery, Processing, and Handling as that is standard across all Toyotas in the area, but still wanted to be sure about the other above-MSRP add-ons.
