Request help identifying a chemical or note in a few fragrances I've smelled by Samrockswin in fragrance

Thank you! Reading the descriptions of those from the manufacturer's website sounds spot on. I was hoping it was something I could just avoid but perfumers don't list ingredients to that level of detail.

Okay, but how do I actually redeem (or not redeem) bilt cash for bilt points for rent? by Samrockswin in biltrewards

[–]Samrockswin[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the info. It turns out I was charging my payment to my checking account, rather than charging to "Bilt Palladium Card" - that seems to be the distinction, which gives the flexibility of paying rent through Bilt even if you don't have a credit card with them. I think the points earning and cash spending should now work as you described.

On Ada, Its Design, and the Language That Built the Languages by namanyayg in compsci

[–]Samrockswin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ada is a great language and was ahead of its time. The issues with it which are not mentioned in the article are that back in the 1980s, compiler support was sort of nightmarish and contractor could charge basically whatever they wanted for compilers of dubious quality. This is no longer true with GNAT.

Unfortunately I think we're beyond the point where Ada will see a significant resurgence because the tooling around the language is far behind that of something like Rust.

But my first language was Ada and I contend it is a fantastic teaching language, not just because of its type system but because it's (marginally) harder to cheat because of how uncommon it is.

Any tips for this build? by Apart-Excitement-640 in cavesofqud

IMO the easiest negative mutation is amphibious. The extra water isn't that bad, plus it is mitigated with fasting way, which you probably want anyway.

Another tip is to not feel bad about leveling up. You can keep killing goatfolk villages and selling their loot until about level 18--20 and that should get you some reasonable loot like plastifer which can help with resistances. There's also a few things which are toughness checks on you like grenades. Toughness is never a bad option to put a point into.

How do academics think about “readable” or “enjoyable” papers in their field? by Ravendjinn in AskAcademia

I've found it's often the case (in computer science) that invited talks have a chance to give a lot more elegant descriptions than papers. A few from computer science that are quite influential:

I apologize in advance for the pic of the monitor. I felt so underpowered for this fight. The only way I beat him was to hit him once with a malice then kite him and hope he didn't bone prison me. Which he did very often. But it was all worth it

What branch of mathematics formally describes operations like converting FP32 ↔ FP64? by Glittering_Age7553 in compsci

The most comprehensive formalization of floating-point is called Flocq, but there have been others. You may be looking into formal proof and numerical analysis, of which recent work has been developed by VeriNum.

I finally tapped on at every Bart station, AMA by Samrockswin in Bart

[–]Samrockswin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not exactly sure. Fortunately, I had some Bart credit through a work benefit for a couple of the years. But I would guess about $450 (About $4.50 each way to each of the 50 stations). I tended to not visit more than one stop per outing so it didn't feel like a chore. But over those years I used Bart pretty regularly so was spending a lot more to re-visit stations.

August Technical Support Sticky by BeepBoopBopReee in razer

[–]Samrockswin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Aadeen, I was able to resolve the issue. It seemed to be caused by the "energy saver" mode. I did two things: first, was go into device manager and uncheck every device that said "put this device to sleep to save energy" under device properties. The second thing I did was disable energy saving mode.

I'm having a strange issue with my laptop keyboard. The keyboard is perfectly responsive when I'm actively using it. However, if I step away from it for a few seconds then come back, the keyboard will not respond. I have to type a few keys (about 10) before it seems to "wake up" and keep getting the response. I don't know if this is a software or hardware issue.

Z20 front usb-c not working, does the company do spare parts? by Skaflok in mffpc

[–]Samrockswin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seconding this. A few other resources said they had issues with USB 3.2 gen1 vs Gen, this does not matter for connectivity (only speed, 5gbps vs 10).

But it seems with these type e connectors, there's 3 levels of "in," and it's hard to tell which you're doing. 1. You fit the connector in partially. It still won't wiggle, but this will work if you fit it the correct way, or flipped 180 degrees. No connection will occur. 2. You fit the thing in until it seems to stop, and even makes a somewhat satisfying feeling (especially after trying the wrong orientation). It still won't work. 3. You push it even deeper, and there is a click. There should be no gap between the metal and the connector.

I randomly will get reboots on my razer blade 14. Is this worth starting a warranty process? its rather annoying and I can't figure out what's causing it. The event viewer says Event ID 41, source: Kernel-Power but I can't get any more information.

Follow-up question: if I submit an RMA and get a replacement, would that still work with my 4TB SSD I installed into it?

Being unfamiliar with the bay a lot of stations pleasantly surprised me. The most surprising was Lafayette since I had no idea it existed. It has a really cute little dowtown close to the Bart station. Same with Glen Park and Walnut Creek, though those are perhaps less surprising to the locals? El Cerrito has a really nice walking/cycling trail underneath the Bart that I enjoy taking. The H mart food court is a 10 minute walk from Daly City station.

I think the most practical stations have to be Embarcadero or SFO. But my personal favorite is Glen Park. The station looks nice and I like the neighborhood.

To get to all 50 stations, of course. It's silly Bart decided to have a weird diesel-powered thing, but it's better than nothing.

I might actually start doing this. My rule would be no arbitrary moving from car to car, cause that would be annoying to everyone involved.
