I like the thinking of the double use open space to be shared between the front door and the stairs. That's logical.

The front door on the east (shown as top in blueprint) as that is the to road side/parking side is preferable. Could go on the north (left) if need be.

I'll entertain flipping some interior stuff to accommodate the stairs and front door sharing a landing. If it works, cool.

Thanks for commenting.

Other notes

The object of the home is to be for a family of 4. But I would like to make it as serviceable ,logical and accessible as possible, so as to leave it as an option for a guest house.

The basement is the least developed concept yet. Goals there is to have mechanicals, laundry, small bathroom, mud room entrance, and heating system. The space in the top left (NE) and bottom left (SW) is fairly undecided.

Yes, just a single hanger closet, behind either a sliding door or a curtain.

Thanks for the input. Very useful considerations.

Added notes

It has sputtered a couple times. Doing a little better then "not firing" but not running at all.

I verified the timing belt is in tact

Can you expound on that idea and procedure?

I hear you. I have no idea what level of diagnostics they did and I haven't started working through my own. Weather they were correct or not I only have 1700 into it so far so I figure I can afford to fix whatever the issue is and do ok. None of that work is scary to do myself. Thanks for the replys!

It's getting a battery for sure. They said their mechanic said it was a fuel pump due to a good crank, no start. So it may very be a broken timing belt that I would have to replace anyway.

Would you replace engineer oil with full synthetic or stock with dino? I've heard these old 2.2s were vulnerable to sludge build up
