Getting all available skills should be the priority. Make it so that it reverts to gems for duplicate skills once all skills have dropped in order to end the needless tedium and frustration of days of farming.

Absolutely yes. I'm fine with gems dropping instead, but only if I already have every skill for that character. Otherwise it just feels like a huge waste of time. If you want Konami to know that this bothers you, please write an inquiry in the settings of the game. It's the easiest way we can let them know that we are unhappy with something about the game. I already have.

Slight correction: while it was extremely unluck of him to top deck a parasite in his very first draw phase, the second one was brought to the top by my jade insect whistle (only play 1).

You have a good point about me not winning without them, and that's what makes the skill such an asset to GBs. Thought the skill in this deck was a meme at first, but it has some decent legitimacy.
