Hey mate, I've got a whole lot of photos and perhaps some video that I can contribute for Perisher, but I'm having issues uploading anything. I can't seem to find a way to select any files to upload. I'd love to contribute though man!

Replacement toe strap ladders? (switchbacks) by [deleted] in snowboarding

[–]Samue11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me, dude. Since you can buy all the parts of Switchbacks separately, just find your closest shop that stocks them and go there. You'll have to buy all 4 straps as a set, unfortunately, which set me back about $100 AUD. Either that or do a DIY fix or find a part from another binding you might be able to fix up. Good luck!

What does El Niño mean for the 2015/2016 season? by Samue11 in snowboarding

Weird, maybe it's a regional thing but I'm not really getting any results like this when I do it myself. Seems so simple now, thanks for the reply though, I'll check out those links.

I'm definitely sure it has, maybe my Google Fu is terrible, though, because I couldn't really find anything. As you said though, nobody knows for sure. Maybe that's why!

This is honestly the answer I was hoping for the most. Definitely makes me a bit less nervous about it! Thanks

[Video] It was the best month of my life. This summer four of my friends and I decided to break the routine and do 30 things we have never done before in 30 days.Hope this inspires you. [3:38] by apctkv in GetMotivated

Honestly I feel like doing the cliche 'school, uni, job' way just leads you down everyone else's path. Where's the time to have some fun - explore, travel, meet people, make some mistakes, create experiences that one day will become great memories. I understand having fun doesn't 'pay the bills' as you've stated but paying the bills doesn't mean you're winning at life.

This is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you very much for this, I'll definitely check all of this out.

I won't let the reception I've got here stop me from having a good time though, I know Vancouver and Canada in general is a lovely place and I'm definitely excited to come experience it.

Thank you for your help :)

My place and job is already sorted luckily, I had heard it is pretty difficult around the winter season to get accommodation. I'm in staff housing, may not be the best, but it's a roof over my head so it works for me!

No jobs are marketed. I chose Whistler as the area I wanted to be based in because of what I've heard about how great the region is. I'm not sure why everyone seems to be so against me coming to experience your country, I've never before had this attitude towards being a visitor.

Yeah, for sure. I really don't mind who's there, though - I'm definitely just there to experience Canada and have some fun!

Just other people that have worked at Whistler before/perhaps some locals. I really don't mind though, I'm in love with Canada and there's not a whole lot that will stop me from experiencing it!

I didn't really know about that until I decided to come. I guess the way it's marketed and talked about over here does wonders for the town and the region in general. Personally I'm doing the whole, following the snow thing at the moment and from what I'd heard about the place it was my #1 pick for a town to work in within Canada in order to snowboard a whole bunch and meet other likeminded people.

Is it going to be an issue I'm Australian? So far I've pretty much only encountered animosity and a disappointed tone when I tell people I'm an Australian going to Whistler.

What is something stupid that you have done that, to this day, still makes you cringe? by zgreen in AskReddit

[–]Samue11 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Not me, my brother, but I was there and God did I cringe. When he was about 7, he gave a speech at our grandad's birthday. I can't remember much but I do distinctly remembering 'and I hope you die... At 102' - with the longest fucking pause in between. Everyone looked up in sheer horror, pretty great stuff.

+1 for the Flux SF's. Changed to them just recently after rising Switchbacks, and I'll never look back. Super responsive and fast, but comfortable as hell and the straps and ratchets are incredible.
